OBJECTIVE:

  • The student will a short movie.


LEARNING TARGET(S):

  • I can create a raw video file and transfer the video from the Network Server (\\blsd-fs02) to my S: Drive.


REQUIRED APPLICATION(S):

  • Movie Maker


DIRECTIONS:

  1. You will create a movie using a combination of still images and/or video clips. You will add title and credit slides, music files and captions. You may also add effects and animations as your skill permits.
  2. If you use your own images:
    1. All images MUST be school appropriate
    2. You may NOT include images of anyone who can be identified other than yourself. (NOTE: You may pixelate or otherwise obscure identifiable faces.)
  3. If you use my images go to Lesnansky's Flickr Site
    1. Find a grouping of images that you like that would be appropriate for "A Day at the ________".
    2. Open and download each image:
    3. Click the download arrow
  4. Open Movie Maker.
  5. Follow the directions provided in class or on the Help Menu of the program to add style and elements to your movie.
  6. File>Save As>Dedicate a WLMP File to your G: Google File Stream.
  7. When you are finished editing and are ready to finalize the project for display outside the editor you MUST follow the last step.
  8. File>Save Movie As>Recommended for this Project>Navigate to your S: Drive.
  9. The video MUST be in MP4 or WMV format!
  10. Please download and copy the Check-Out Sheet (posted below) and verify that your projects meets the requirements.
  11. The following are the Project Requirements:
  • Grades 5-6
    • Your project MUST have a defined theme that is evident in the piece
    • You MUST have a title slide that defines the title of the project (congruent with the Theme)
    • You MUST have a title slide that defines your name, grade and the course that you are enrolled in
    • You must have a minimum of five (5) images from my Flickr site (or you may use your own)
    • A Credit Slide for the Photographer
    • This project MUST be between 60 and 120 seconds long
  • Grades 7-12
    • Your project MUST have a defined theme that is evident in the piece
    • You MUST have a title slide that defines the title of the project (congruent with the Theme)
    • You MUST have a title slide that defines your name, grade and the course that you are enrolled in
    • You must have a minimum of ten (10) images from my Flickr site (or you may use your own)
    • You MUST have a Royalty Free Music file embedded in the project
    • You MUST have a MINIMUM of two (2) information slides that provide some background on the project you have created. (These may be anywhere in the body)
    • A Credit Slide for the Photographer
    • A Credit Slide for the Musical Artist
    • This project MUST be between 60 and 120 seconds long
    • Text must show consistency (same style, appropriate size, etc.)


PERMISSIONS:

  • This video may be shown in class as a positive example and may be placed on Lesnansky’s Control Center of the George Lesnansky YouTube Channel if exemplary. If you do NOT want your project to be used please see Mr. Lesnansky.

One of the components of your assignment is to encode a music file behind the production. The following sites provide easy to use, downloadable (virus free) music files.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR IPHONE USERS:

The Verge - HEIC Format

New Apple iPhones may be set to take photos in High Efficiency Image File Format (HEIC) which is a new image container format from the developers of MPEG, a popular audio and video compression standard. This format may be unusable in a Windows 10 PC. Here is more information and the recommended workaround. For those of you with newer iPhones this is a MUST READ!

SUBMITTED WORK:

  • You MUST complete Check Out Sheet (provided in class or download and print from below).
  • This work will be checked in class. (50 POINTS)
  • Please show Mr. Lesnansky your WLMP file on your computer
  • Once the Check Out Sheet has been graded you must save your project as an MP-4 video file and submit it to the Google Classroom (20 POINTS)
    • File>Save Movie>Recommended for this project
    • Navigate to your Google Drive Filestream
    • Rename the file LASTNAME


LATE WORK/MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT:

  • If you are absent from school or do not complete the assignment on time, you must inform Mr. Lesnansky to check the assignment. This needs to be done early in the grading period as it creates a storage system for all of the documents that you will be creating this year.
  • NOTE: A point deduction may be enforced for late work not due to an excused absence.
