OHIO LEARNING STANDARDS FOR TECHNOLOGY (2017):

STRAND: Information and Communications Technology

The understanding and application of digital learning tools for accessing, creating, evaluating, applying and communicating ideas and information.

Topic 1: Identify and use appropriate digital learning tools and resources to accomplish a defined task.

Grade 3-5

• With guidance, identify and use digital learning tools or resources to support planning, implementing and reflecting upon a defined task.

Grade 6-8

• Select and use digital learning tools or resources to support planning, implementing, and reflecting upon a defined task.

Grade 9-12

• Based on project-specific requirements, develop criteria to select digital learning tools and resources to support the concurrent management of multiple projects.


OBJECTIVE:

  • This assignment is designed to have the student create an audio file using Audacity. The student will create a personal manuscript to be read onto an electronic file. This file will then be saved to the Network Drive (\\blsd-fs02) and transferred to their personal S: Drive.


LEARNING TARGETS:

  • I can create a manuscript.


DIRECTIONS:

  1. Open Microsoft Word
  2. Insert>Footer>Blank
  3. Place your name and grade in the footer
  4. Close the footer
  5. File>Save As>Navigate to your Google Drive and the appropriate folder and save the file
  6. Create your script. This must have three distinct parts (and may have a fourth part if desired). They include:
    1. A simple spoken line such as: "Hi, this is Mr. Lesnansky and I am a teacher at Brookfield High School”
    2. A line from a movie that you like.
      1. This line MUST be school appropriate!
      2. You can use the Internet Movie Database to find a line.
        1. www.imdb.com
        2. Search for your movie
        3. Select Quotes
    3. A nonsense statement derived from one of the following sites:
      1. http://nonsense.x2d.org/ (NOTE: This site is now BLOCKED for student....but not for teachers. You MUST use the #2 site).
      2. http://www.brainyquote.com/quotes/keywords/nonsense.html
    4. (OPTIONAL) Any other performance piece that you want to record and digitize. This may be a poem, a song, a speech or any other spoken or sung performance.
  7. These statements should be in a larger font so they can be easily read. You should also try to keep the document confined to one page.
  8. These three (3) or four (4) statements will be recorded and edited in Audacity.
  9. File>Save As>Navigate to your Google Drive and the appropriate folder and save the file


SUBMITTED WORK:

  • Print a copy of your manuscript in Room 408.


LATE WORK/MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT:

  • Print a copy of your manuscript in Room 408. (NOTE: A point deduction may be enforced for late work not due to an excused absence.)
