STRAND: Information and Communications Technology

The understanding and application of digital learning tools for accessing, creating, evaluating, applying and communicating ideas and information.

Topic 3: Use digital learning tools and resources to construct knowledge.

Grade 3-5

• Create artifacts using digital learning tools and resources to demonstrate knowledge.

Grade 6-8

• Create artifacts using digital learning tools and resources to demonstrate knowledge.

Grade 9-12

• Create artifacts using digital learning tools and resources to demonstrate knowledge.

ACTIVITIES:

1. Choose an 8.5" x 11" piece of paper from the selection provided.
2. Come to the Maker Space when you are called.
3. Your name will be coded into RD Works and the design will be burned into the paper.
4. You will see your name appear.
5. Take your paper and find a contrasting color to put behind it.
6. Glue the top to the bottom paper.
7. Cut the name so it shows nicely.
8. Take your Negative Space Name with you and show it off!

ASSESSMENT:

• This is a Make and Take Project

SCORING GUIDE:

• This is a simple assignment that will be engraved on the Laser Engraver.
• If you ever have a question on a grade please see the instructor!

LATE WORK/MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT:

• If you are absent from school or do not complete the assignment on time, you must inform Mr. Lesnansky to check the assignment. This needs to be done early in the grading period as it creates a storage system for all of the documents that you will be creating this year. (NOTE: A point deduction may be enforced for late work not due to an excused absence.)

DEPTH OF KNOWLEDGE QUESTIONS:

1. DoK1: What other word would you like?
2. DoK2: How would graphics effect the piece?
3. DoK3: Can you design something to be laser engraved?
4. DoK4: Describe the difference between engraving and cutting.
