OHIO LEARNING STANDARDS FOR TECHNOLOGY (2017):

STRAND: Society and Technology

The interconnectedness of technology, self, society and the natural world, specifically addressing the ethical, legal, political and global impact of technology.

Grade 3-5

• Identify and discuss how the use of technology affects self and others in various ways.

• Manage components of your digital identity and your digital footprint.

Grade 9-12

• Analyze and influence your digital identity and digital footprint while considering past, present, and future implications.


OBJECTIVE:

  • The student will research and select an Occupation and perform two (2) separate Work Activities using two (2) of the Apps that we studied in the course this year.


LEARNING TARGETS:

  • I can use Microsoft Word to create a table and populate the table with data from career based research.

  • App 1 of your choosing
  • App 2 of your choosing


ACTIVITIES:

Part 1 - Create an Account

  1. Watch the following videos:
  2. YouTube Video (SEE BELOW)
  3. Go to https://jobseeker.ohiomeansjobs.monster.com/
  4. Create an Account using your school email.


Part 2 - Career Cluster Inventory

  1. Login to your Ohio Means Jobs Account
  2. Go to the Career Cluster Inventory (Explore It!>Career Cluster Inventory)
  3. Take the Inventory Quiz (80 Questions) to see what types of jobs would interest you.
  4. Screen shot the results (Snipping Tool) and post them to the Google Classroom Folder.


Part 3 - Microsoft Word/Research

  1. Watch the following YouTube Video:

  4. Select five different Occupations in the database and creating a Microsoft Word document similar to the one exampled below. NOTE: This document MUST have a custom designed table to define your research.
    1. Open Microsoft Word
    2. Page Layout>Landscape
    3. Insert>Table
    4. Insert a Table that has six (6) columns and six (6) rows
  5. You may use the Design and Layout options to format the table to your liking
  6. Follow the model posted below (Part 1)
  7. Go to Insert
  8. Click Footer
  9. Place your name and your grade in the footer
  10. Decorate the document with graphics, borders and other enhancements to better define the piece
  11. Complete the table by researching careers.
  12. Print the document in Room 408


Part 4 and Part 5 - Student Selected Skill Simulations

  1. You will select an Occupation and try to simulate the two (2) of the Work Activities that are listed.
  2. You MUST use two (2) of the Apps that we have studied this year.
  3. You will view the Check Out Sheet (POSTED BELOW), make a copy of the document, edit it as necessary and print it when you have completed your project.
  4. You will repeat this process for Part 3 USING A DIFFERENT APP. You may NOT use the same App as Part 2.


SUBMITTED WORK:

  • This work should be submitted by printing a copy of your finished product to the network printer in Room 408. (It may be labeled PROD LAB 408 or just show as HS 408). Leave the work on the printer. Mr. Lesnansky will grade it from there.


LATE WORK/MAKE-UP ASSIGNMENT:

  • If you are absent from school or do not complete the assignment on time, you must inform Mr. Lesnansky to check the assignment. This needs to be done early in the grading period as it creates a storage system for all of the documents that you will be creating this year. (NOTE: A point deduction may be enforced for late work not due to an excused absence.)
