Section 1

Objective: Students will continue reading/analyzing My Favorite Chaperone.

Assessment: Completion of question packet, literary vocab quiz, write objective summary of the story. (due dates to come)

Warm-up

Log onto the responder. There are two assignment waiting: Daily drill and Choosing.

Collect money.

Vocabulary

Review the answers to the Choosing the Right Word

Draw four pictionaries on a car unlabeled. Switch and identify.

My Favorite Chaperone

At the end of this collection, students will write an expository essay focusing on the challenges immigrants face and the adjustments immigrants make. .

1. Explore how the author uses metaphors and similes to help us understand the narrator's feelings.

Notice the details she chooses to show us through her eyes.

2. Identify the internal and external conflicts of Maya throughout the story.

3. Start to identify which characters are static and dynamic.

4. Has the story finished with exposition and entered the rising action?

I would expect you to read the story on your own and work ahead on the questions.
