Section 1
Objectives:
Students will better understand what is required of them on district benchmark tests.
Students will be introduced to more vocabulary words from Vocab Workshop Unit 2.
Students will continue to practice figurative language: simile, metaphor, hyperbole, personification.
Assessment:
Vocab quiz Friday, October 8
Figurative language poster due by Friday.
Phrase large and clear.

Figurative language technique identified in lower right corner.
Today
Warm-up: Log onto the responder and do waiting assignments. Collect money.
Read story together. Group answers for the benchmark test.
Vocabulary
We will start Unit 2 today. Do pictionaries tonight.
Do at least one Quizlet activity by Friday.

CC.8.R.L.1 I will be able to cite the textual evidence that most strongly supports an analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text.
CC.8.R.L.2 I will be able to determine a theme or central idea of a text and analyze its development over the course of the text, including its relationship to the characters, setting, and plot; provide an objective summary of the text.
