Focus for the Week

Literature: I am trying to make students more responsible for reading and learning the material on their own.

Students will be reading Bonne Annee themselves. I will be reteaching as needed.

2nd Journal Entry: CANCELED AS OF NOW (I have too much that I have been required to cover. Sorry.)

Stations: Writing: Claim, Cite, Clarify in the guiding questions for our stories.

Reading: Achieve

1. Write the 1st poll question in a few sentences.

2. Read the article and answer the questions. I will take the first score.

3. Answer the after poll question in a few sentences

4. DO NOT do the Thought Question.

Instead, do the Schoology questions.

Be sure to rephrase the question in the answer!

Grammar: I will be getting to grammar soon. Things have been added to my plate lately.

Vocabulary: Vocabulary.com will continue as planned.

Be sure to do the Schoology assignment.

Requirements for Lesson Planning

Small Groups: I am slowly going to introduce students to the stations routines. During stations, I will be pulling students for small group instruction. We are not there yet.

Vocabulary: It is early in the school year. Right now, I would like to start establishing routines and expectations.

Standards:

CC.8.L.4.a Vocabulary Acquisition and Use: Use context (e.g., the overall meaning of a sentence or paragraph; a word’s position or function in a sentence) as a clue to the meaning of a word or phrase.

CC.8.L.4.d Vocabulary Acquisition and Use: Verify the preliminary determination of the meaning of a word or phrase (e.g., by checking the inferred meaning in context or in a dictionary).
