Get students for announcements next week.

Section 1

Objectives: Students will continue reading/analyzing My Favorite Chaperone:

1. Add support for challenges and adjustments

2. Apply literary terms for upcoming quiz

3. Strength close reading strategies

Assessment: Completion of question packet, literary vocab quiz, write objective summary of the story. (due dates to come)

Warm-up

Log onto the responder. Today's will count for a grade.

Collect money.

At the end of this collection, students will write an expository essay focusing on the challenges immigrants face and the adjustments immigrants make. .

Reading for a Purpose:

Challenges and Adjustments Essay: Be sure to collect these.

Literary Terms:

Rising action- Identify the internal and external conflicts of Maya throughout the story.

Start to identify which characters are static and dynamic.

Close Reading Skills:

Continue author's use of imagery, things that provoke decisions.

Homework:

VOCAB: I expect to see you have practiced using Quizlet

I would expect you to read the story on your own and work ahead on the questions.
