Sections 2 and 3

Objectives:

Students will continue the lesson from yesterday. By the end of today, they will have an understanding of how to prepare for writing an argumentative essay from sources as required by the new testing. They will also have written a rough draft of an essay so that we can compare it to the example.

Agenda:

Tell me something good.

Open a new document and save with this title: LastName_FirstName_Language_Essay.docx

Open the document below for the notes.

Copy and past the outline into your document.

Discuss the notes that were taken yesterday and think about how to group them.

Make an outline of your essay. Then begin writing the essay below the outline.

Be sure your essay discusses both sides of the topic!

Paste what you have finished into this form.

You must have a complete, but not perfect, essay to receive a good formative grade. Shoot for 500 words with multiple paragraphs.

Students will understand the process of writing an argumentative paper starting from the prompt and the articles.

Agenda:

Review the vocabulary words from unit 6

Work time in your groups on your debates.

Help each other prepare for their debates.

Have the scheduled debate.

Read the prompt and the two articles and take notes.
