Placement Procedures for Specialized Programs and Out of District Programs

The Programs:

  • Programs in Hillsboro include:

    • Home Instruction: Instruction in the home or public setting (i.e., library).

    • Life Skills Classrooms (LSC): Serving students with developmental disabilities in cognitive, language, motor, and social skills.

    • Social Learning Classroom (SLC): Serving students with behavioral needs or mental health issues.

    • Social Communication Classroom (SCC): Serving students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or significant communication deficits.

    • Transition Services: Serving 18-21 year old students who have not graduated with a regular diploma.

    • Community Transition Services (CTS): Serving 18-21 year old students with developmental disabilities in cognitive, language, motor, and social skills.

All Out of District Programs are NWRESD or privately operated programs

    • The programs are the most restrictive placements on the continuum of service

    • The programs require the commitment of district level resources

    • The programs require the IEP Team to work closely with the Student Services Administrator or designee

Placement Procedures:

    • Please see attached documentation in this section for specific classroom placement procedures

    • For Out of District placements, work directly with your Student Services Administrator or designee

Parent Request:

    • If a parent requests placement in a more restrictive placement or an out of district program, or presents an independent evaluation that makes that recommendation, contact the appropriate Student Services Administrator, Support Specialist, or ASD Specialist to discuss the response to the request.
