UPDATE ABOUT TNT DALLAS

In the last days we have got some unofficial tidbits about the shooting of the much-anticipated "Dallas" Pilot produced by TNT. Here is a small bunch of updates and/or rumors:

- The on-location shooting still remains a mystery, despite of Larry Hagman expressing his dislike to not shooting in Dallas itself. The producers keep looking for the right places in Louisiana, state that offers them more tax deductions.

- The scheduled date of beginning to shoot has been post-poned from March to April and now to May.

- So far the main actors have been cast, although both Larry and Linda still have doubts about the project itself. Larry has gueststarred in two episodes of "Desperate Housewives" as Frank, the obnoxious groom of Lynette Scavo´s boozy mother. As he said, his own grand-daughters begged him to accept the part. Besides, he has showed his new look publicly, a grey toupée, supposedly for playing the old J.R. Linda recently starred in a movie called "Expecting Mary", with well-known actors like Cybill Shepherd, Gene Simmons (from Kiss fame), Elliott Gould, and others. She also participated in a fashion show for the New York Fashion week (above photo) and currently is performing a monologue play about Bette Davis along with "Knots Landing" star Kathleen Noone.

- Until now, a lot of former "Dallas" actors have expressed their wishes to return as the characters that made them famous, such as Charlene Tilton (on the Live Chat held by UD a few days ago), who said that she loved to play Lucy again, though nobody asked her to. The same thing said others like Audrey Landers, who thinks that her on-screen daughter is the same age of the Ewing brothers and might be part of the next generation. Victoria Principal, as well, was interviewed last month by Roy from the Dallas Fanzine (recommended site for everybody, by the way) and seemed to be "interested" in knowing in what ways the fans think than Pam could be re-introduced into the story. Anyway, Victoria feels now closer to the space than to Dallas, and practically quit acting, and runs her multi-millionaire skincare product company.

- There has been said that the "Dallas" theme will be included, as well as the three-part opening, and that the family company will work on Alternative Energies now.

- Another part that is being cast right now is Ann, the new wife of Bobby Ewing. The "Smallville" actress Annette O´Toole had been rumored to be in talks, but nothing came out of that, not even a confirmation.

- The TV movie´s director, Michael M. Robin, won two Emmy Awards for his co-producing "NYPD Blue" and "L.A. Law". He got four other nominations, one for them for directing an episode of the first mentioned series. As a director, he has worked in shows such as "Trust Me", "Nip/Tuck" and "The Closer" (also on TNT). Let´s hope that he gets to pull ahead a project so demanding as this one.

- Recent updates:

Larry Hagman has been interviewed for a French TV show last week and said that the filming will begin next April 27th at the town of Dallas, and the Southfork ranch will also be included in the Piloto locations. In case this movie (to be aired between May and October) gets big audience numbers, there is an option to film a 22-episode season. This is good news for us the show´s fans!

En los últimos días, hemos podido leer algunos detalles no oficiales sobre el rodaje del muy esperado Piloto de "Dallas" que produce la TNT. Aquí tenéis algunos de estos rumores y/o actualizaciones:

- El rodaje en exteriores sigue siendo un misterio, a pesar de que Larry Hagman ha expresado su desacuerdo por no filmar en la misma ciudad de Dallas. Los productores siguen buscando los sitios ideales en Louisiana, estado que les ofrece más deducciones de impuestos.

- La fecha de inicio de filmación prevista se ha pospuesto de marzo a abril y ahora a mayo.

- Hasta ahora, se ha elegido a los actores principales, aunque tanto Larry como Linda siguen teniendo dudas sobre el proyecto. Larry ha participado en dos episodios de "Mujeres Desesperadas" como Frank, el irritante prometido de la madre borrachina de Lynette Scavo. Según comentó él, fueron sus nietas quienes le rogaron que aceptase el papel. Además, ha mostrado en público su nueva imagen, con un tupé color gris, suponemos que para interpretar al viejo J.R. Linda protagonizó recientemente una película llamada "Expecting Mary", con actores tan conocidos como Cybill Shepherd, Gene Simmons (el cantante de "Kiss"), Elliott Gould y otros. También ha participado en un desfile de modas en la "New York Fashion week" (foto izquierda) y actualmente interpreta un monólogo sobre Bette Davis junto con la actriz de "California", Kathleen Noone.

- Hasta la fecha, varios de los antiguos actores de "Dallas" han expresado sus deseos de regresar como los personajes que les hicieron famosos, como Charlene Tilton (en el Chat en directo celebrado por UD hace unos días), que dijo que le encantaría volver a interpretar a Lucy, aunque nadie se lo ha pedido. Lo mismo han dicho otros como Audrey Landers, que piensa que su hija ficticia tiene la misma edad que los hermanos Ewing y podría ser parte de la siguiente generación. También Victoria Principal fue entrevistada el mes pasado por Roy, de Dallas Fanzine (web recomendable para todos, por cierto) y parecía mostrar "interés" por saber de qué manera Pam podría volver a la historia. De todas formas, ahora Victoria se siente más cerca del espacio que de Dallas, y prácticamente ha dejado la profesión de actriz, para dirigir su empresa multimillonaria de productos para el cuidado de la piel.

- Se ha comentado que el tema de "Dallas" se va a incluir, así como la cabecera dividida en tres imágenes, y que la empresa de la familia trabajará ahora con Energías Alternativas.

- Otro papel para el que se está buscando ahora una actriz es el de Ann, la nueva esposa de Bobby Ewing. Se había rumoreado que la antigua protagonista de "Smallville" Annette O´Toole estaba en conversaciones, pero nada ha salido de eso, ni siquiera una confirmación de que así fuera.

- El director del Piloto, Michael M. Robin, ha obtenido dos Premios Emmy por coproducir "Policías de NY" y "La Ley de L.A." Obtuvo cuatro propuestas más, una por dirigir un episodio de la primera serie. Como director, ha trabajado en series como "Confía en mí", "Nip/Tuck" y "The Closer" (también de la TNT). Esperemos que consiga llevar a buen puerto un projecto tan exigente como este.

Larry Hagman ha comentado en una reciente entrevista para la televisión francesa que el rodaje comenzará el día 27 de abril en la ciudad de Dallas, y el rancho Southfork se incluirá finalmente entre los exteriores del Piloto. En caso de que éste (que podría emitirse entre mayo y octubre) consiga buena audiencia, existe una opción para filmar una temporada de 22 episodios. Buenas noticias, pues, para los fans de la serie.
