11-12 - battle lines / venomous creatures

I was very excited about it therefore my first reaction was a bit of a letdown in the beginning, maybe because I´m not used to commercial breaks anymore, maybe because my pc screen is not too big. Besides, I need the English subtitles for some actors, especially the Creepie guy, and some business talk. Anyway, here is my opinion about the first episode. I don´t care about the CE couple, I hate the Carmen intrusions (she called Rebecca "desgraciada", which means literally "miserable" but also is a synonim for "damn"...), I wish the pool had been seen at daylight too, the big offices are impressive and the secre-spy intrigues are ready to boot. I have always loved urban architecture in general and Dallas´ in particular. Now I think it´s even more grand and spectacular as a city. I have read here that some people have noticed the Barnes-Wentworth building in one of the scenes, but did you see the Oil Barons´ Club building behind the desk of the guy Elena visits? I had to watch it all over again and in my TV to be able to get an opinion about it. I like that the pace is slower, that the older actors are being given scenes with more dialogues and interaction, and also the humorous references to the past. Indeed Bobby did know that Cliff and Afton had a child in common, at least that he suspected that. Maybe Cliff didn´t tell him what Afton and her ex made him believe: that the ex was her daddy. Hence Bobby maybe doesn´t know anything. Besides, can you imagine Bobby caring about the tart with a heart who slept with JR in Lucy´s wedding?

This scene was not well-developed. I think that JR should have been present there and that Chris should have felt some kind of mixed reaction after knowing he had married his cousin...some kind, at least. I also missed a first shot of Bobby when Pamela revealed who she really was. That had to mean something to him, the fact that her real name was just the name of his ex wife and love of his life (I presume...). Of course, I agree with all the friends who say here that Chris is not likeable at all: he´s cocky, arrogant, posh and insensitive towards the cousin he almost lost in the hands of Cano´s gang. He´s a bastard in more than one sense. I hope someone tells him that but seriously, not as a joke. Maybe it´s the kind of villain that young people love to hate today, who knows...Eye-candy, sure, but I´d say chocolates are his weakness...Wardrobe: Great, much better than last year, and also much better than in other current soaps I won´t mention. Pamela looks great in those suits and she plays megavixen to the hilt. It seems to me that this is the executive bitch we should have had in the original Dallas if Katherine had taken control of Wentworth Industries (but sexist producers didn´t let that happen...). I wish they give her meaty scenes and also keep her away from clichéd behaviors. Her face-to-face with JR was priceless and the "Pamela flushing" quote just priceless. So JR did have something to do with Pammie´s disappearance after all, as rumors are saying? Maybe he brought Katherine back to use her as his accomplice but she tried to see Pam due to her complete craziness. Imagine that a spiteful JR took her and Pam to a dark, hidden place in Europe (where the creepiest things happen...ahem) and let them isolated and with no money...in a desert island. Well, I better stop. This is off-off-topic.

I can´t stand anything related with car races: it always implies that there will be an accident and a victim. Like Lance on "Falcon Crest" or Gary on "Knots". I even used that in my fanfic for James...Sue Ellen´s mansion was big, but it needed to be introduced to us viewers in a big way, and a season premiere needs that kind of shots. Does it have a pool, a garden...a winery? The sets are elegant. The election plot was quickly swept under the carpet, as if the writers were ashamed of having had that idea for Sue Ellen. "Powerhouse" to become a "Desperate Housewife" now? I hope not. Maybe she will join Elena at EE...About BlandAnn, I did like the actress and the storyline, much more than the Dienasty ones. I guess there´s gonna be a deep dark secret behind this, and better be good because poor Mary Alice needs a good plot! Loved Bobby´s reactions, on the other way, when she told him about Emma. He made me think of Miss Ellie when she accepted Ray as a fourth son: introspective reaction instead of a external one. After all, Bobby had to be here a mix of both Jock and Ellie. I´m sick and tired of seeing Bobby as a violent man: people of his age don´t do that unless they were bodybuilders or wrestlers or whatever. He always was a good guy and he must remain so. Don´t blame the Duffster: he´s just playing what there is on his script, just like Linda. I want to see somebody really good, honest, noble, like the classic Bobby and Pamela.

PS: I loved it when Bobby spoke Spanish when looking for Emma in the second episode. His pronunciation was perfect! Good ol´ Teresa must have given him some lessons!

Al principio mi reacción fue ligeramente de decepción porque estaba muy emocionado con el regreso de la serie, porque no estoy acostumbrado a las pausas comerciales y porque la pantalla de mi pc no es muy grande. Además, necesito los subtítulos en inglés para comprender lo que dicen algunos actores, sobre todo el "Creepy" Christopher y las charlas de negocios. Aún así, esta es mi opinión sobre esos primeros dos episodios: A mí no me interesa la pareja C-E, detesto las intrusiones de Carmen intrusions (llamar a Rebecca desgraciada...), me hubiera gustado ver la piscina también a la luz del día, las espaciosas oficinas son impresionantes y las intrigas de las secreespías están ya a punto de empezar. Siempre me ha encantado la arquitectura urbana en general y la de Dallas en particular. Ahora creo que, como ciudad, es más grandiosa y espectacular. He leído que hay quien ha distinguido el Edificio de la Barnes-Wentworth en una de las escenas, pero, ¿visteis el del Club de los Petroleros tras el despacho del tipo al que visita Elena? He tenido que volverlos a ver en mi televisor para poder hacerme una opinión. Me gusta que el ritmo sea más lento, que los actores veteranos tengan escenas con más diálogos e interacción, y también las referencias cómicas al pasado. Claro que Bobby sabía que Cliff y Afton habían tenido un hijo juntos, o por lo menos lo sospechaba. Tal vez Cliff no le llegó a decir lo que le hicieron creer Afton y su ex: que éste era su verdadero padre. Quizá es por eso que Bobby no sepa nada del tema. Además, ¿podéis imaginaros a Bobby preocupándose por la tontita con buen corazón que durmió con JR durante el banquete de la boda de Lucy?

Esta escena no fue bien desarrollada. Creo que JR tendría que haber estado presente y Chris debería haber demostrado algún tipo de reacción ambivalente tras saber que se había casado con su prima...o casi. También eché de menos un primer plano de Bobby cuando Pamela reveló quién era en realidad. Eso tenía que significar algo para él, que el verdadero nombre de ella era el mismo de su ex mujer y amor de su vida (doy por hecho...). Claro que estoy de acuerdo con quien dice que Chris no cae nada bien: es un gallito arrogante, pijo e insensible hacia el primo que casi perdió en manos de la banda latina de Cano. Es un bastardo en más de un sentido...Espero que alguien se lo diga a la cara y en serio, no en plan broma. Quizá es el tipo de villano al que los jóvenes de hoy les encante odiar, a saber...Es atractivo aunque diría que los bombones podrían ser su debilidad...Vestuario: Genial, mucho mejor que el del año pasado y que el de otros seriales actuales que no mencionaré. Pamela luce espléndida en esos trajes chaqueta e interpreta a la perfección el papel de supervíbora. Me parece que esta es la zorra ejecutiva que pudimos haber tenido en la Dallas original si Katherine hubiera llegado a controlar las Industrias Wentworth (aunque los productores machistas no lo permitieron...). Ojalá le den escenas jugosas y la alejen de comportamientos tópicos. Su enfrentamiento con JR no tuvo precio y lo de "puedo deshacerme de una Pamela..." fue una perla. Así que, según los rumores, ¿JR tuvo algo que ver con la desaparición de Pammie? Tal vez fue él quien trajo de vuelta a Katherine para usarla como cómplice pero ella intentó ver a Pam loca como estaba. Imaginad que un vengativo JR las llevó a ambas a un lugar oculto y siniestro en Europa (donde lo más sórdido suele ocurrir, ejem...) y las dejó aisladas y sin dinero...en una isla desierta. Bueno, más vale que pare, esto se me ha ido de las manos...hace rato.

No puedo soportar nada relacionado con las carreras de bólidos: siempre conlleva un accidente y una víctima, como Lance en "Falcon Crest" o Gary en "California". Incluso yo incluí uno en mi "fanfic" para James...La mansión de Sue Ellen es enorme, pero nos la debieron haber presentado de una forma majestuosa ya que todo estreno de temporada necesita ese tipo de planos. ¿Cuenta con una piscina, un jardín...o una bodega? Los decorados son elegantes. La trama de las elecciones ha sido olvidada rápidamente como si los guionistas se hubieran avergonzado de haber tenido esa idea para Sue Ellen. ¿La "Poderosa" se convertirá ahora en una "Mujer Desesperada"? Espero que no, quizá se una a Elena en EE...En cuanto a la blanda de Ann, me gustan la actriz y la historia, mucho más que las similares de "Dinastía". Supongo que habrá un oscuro y profundo secreto detrás de eso y más vale que sea bueno porque la pobre Mary Alice necesita una buena trama. Me encantó la reacción de Bobby, por otro lado, cuando le contó lo de Emma. Me recordó a Ellie cuando aceptó a Ray como el 4º hijo: una reacción introvertida en lugar de una extrovertida. Después de todo, Bobby tenía que ser una mezcla de Jock y Ellie. Me harta bastante ver a Bobby como hombre violento: la gente de su edad no se comporta así a menos que sean culturistas o luchadores de "wrestling" o algo así. Siempre fue un buen chico y debe seguir siéndolo. No culpéis a Duffy: él sólo interpreta lo que hay en el guión, igual que Linda. Me gustaría ver a alguien realmente bueno, honrado y noble como la clásica pareja de Bobby and Pamela.

PD: Me encantó que, cuando buscaba a Emma, Bobby hablara en castellano en el 2º episodio con una pronunciación perfecta. La buena de Teresa debe de haberle dado algunas lecciones...
