24 - guilt by association

My post on Ultimate Dallas Forum from April 30, 2013 (episode aired on April 15, 2013):

- About Pam´s fate: I´m with all of you who think that it has been written to give VP a big FU after her statement, and not for plot´s sake and that´s too bad. But after all, she has just confirmed what the Dallas guru decided at the 80´s. Maybe CC might have come up with a better story but that would´ve implied another woman to shadow her dear females Ann, Elena, PR, Carmen, Emma, Judith and, last but not least, Sue Ellen. Because, do you really think that a 13-15 episode season could give all of them something to do? I think not. Besides, who knows if CC may wake up one morning and think: wow, the UD posters are bashing me again, I quit! And then, enter David Paulsen or David Jacobs!! CC doesn´t own the Dallas rights, she´s the showrunner and headwriter, and she shares this charge with Michael Robin, I think.

I honestly have the feeling that today´s TV viewers need more evasion and fun "drama" shows like TNT Dallas, and it will probably survive CC if she leaves one day. Duffy and Gray are the real PR of this show and they better take a course on it, because their obvious, undiscussable charm and wit are not enough if they try to sell us the show and its finale as the masterpiece it is not. I got thrilled with all the scenes involving Pam´s fate because I thought I´d never see that on the new show. They dared to go there and now seemingly there is a closure...but really? Without a body? Without a video interview of VP saying the truth of what has happened? These days I don´t believe on anything written on the net as I used to: I can only believe what I can see and hear (and rationalize) so I won´t buy a carpet if I DON´T NEED a carpet. And the Dallas actors (especially the Bobster and his son the Creepster) should be more honest to us and relax and have more fun. Just enjoy the ride, like our missed Larry Hagman used to say.

On the other side, I couldn´t help thinking of the Falcon Crest "search trips" when I watched the Switzerland scenes. Obviously there was no budget for anything else...but at least, the Creepster cried a little and showed some human emotion without barfing. The moment I really almost fell off my chair was when he walks upstairs at the doctor´s house and thinks he´s going to see Pam, and he sees a blue-eyed woman and spends 15 seconds staring at her. You stupid brat, your mother had brown eyes!! Have you never seen a pic of hers? Then I just wanted to slap his face so badly!! Aside of all this, I liked this part. Even if Pam is nowhere to be seen again.
