TED SHACKELFORD

NACIÓ EL 23 DE JUNIO DE 1946 EN OKLAHOMA CITY, pero creció en TULSA, y pasó temporadas en Long Island, Nueva York y Guam, donde su padre militar había sido destinado. Shackelford inició su carrera en Colorado, sin embargo, donde asistió a la Universidad de Denver, apareciendo en montajes locales y de café-teatro de HOGAN´S GOAT, NIGHT OF THE IGUANA, BUS STOP, SUNDAY IN N.Y., MY 3 ANGELS y THE PLEASURE OF HIS COMPANY, entre otras.

El inevitable traslado a Nueva York siguió a continuación, donde su carrera se ralentizó inevitablemente. Trabajó durante más de un año como gerente nocturno del Hotel Carlyle y al final, consiguió un papel de suplente en la obra de Broadway MURDER AMONG FRIENDS. Pero, al mismo tiempo, se embarcó en lo que sería una intervención de un año de duración en el serial diario ANOTHER WORLD.

El siguiente gran paso fue, por supuesto, Hollywood, donde Shackelford llegó el día de Navidad de 1975. Fue el paso idóneo: pronto co-protagonizó el especial dramático para TV THE DEFECTION OF SIMAS KUDIRKA, con ALAN ARKIN, y más tarde actuó en el telefilme THE JORDAN CHANCE, con RAYMOND BURR, y en TERROR ENTRE NOSOTROS. Sus otros créditos televisivos incluyen papeles episódicos en LOS CASOS DE ROCKFORD, EL GRAN HAWAI y THE NEW ADVENTURES OF WONDER WOMAN, donde coincidió por primera vez con JOAN VAN ARK.

Desde que se canceló K.L., TED ha intervenido en otras series de forma selectiva, a veces como protagonista (SAVANNAH, BRIGADA ESPACIAL - foto superior izquierda) y otras como invitado (MÁS ALLÁ DEL LÍMITE, LOCA ALCALDÍA, CYBILL, EL ABOGADO, CROSSING JORDAN - foto superior derecha - o SEXY MONEY). En 1997 recuperó su papel de GARY en la REUNION DE KL y su último telefilme data de 2007 y se titula MIRACLE DOGS. Desde 2006 interpreta a un codicioso abogado en el serial diario THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (arriba, foto de promoción con Jess Walton). En 2013 apareció en 4 episodios de la nueva DALLAS retomando su papel de GARY EWING.

Ted Shackelford was born on June 23 in Oklahoma City, but grew up mainly in Tulsa, with stop-overs in Long Island, New York and Guam, where his father was stationed with the military. Shackelford launched his career in Colorado though, where he attended the University of Denver, performing in community and dinner-theatre productions of "Hogan's Goat," "Night of the Iguana," "Bus Stop," "Sunday in New York," My Three Angeles" and "The Pleasure of His Company," among others.

The inevitable move to New York followed, where he found the going inevitably slow. He worked for over a year as the night manager of the Carlyle Hotel and finally landed an understudy part in the Broadway play, "Murder Among Friends." But at the same time, he was embarking on what would be a year-long run in the daytime soap, "Another World."

The next big step was, of course, Hollywood, where Shackelford arrived at on Christmas Day, 1975. The move was propitious: he soon co-starred in the dramatic television special, "The Defection of Simas Kudirka," with Alan Arkin and later starred in the TV movie, "The Jordan Chance," with Raymond Burr and "Terror Among Us." His other television credits include guest-starring roles on "The Rockford Files," "Big Hawaii," and "The New Adventures of Wonder Woman," where he met JOAN VAN ARK by first time.

Since K.L. was cancelled, TED has played in other series quite selectively, sometimes starring (SAVANNAH, SPACE PRECINCT - left above photo) and others guest-starring (THE OUTER LIMITS, SPIN CITY, CYBILL, THE PRACTICE, CROSSING JORDAN - right photo above - or DIRTY SEXY MONEY). In 1997 he resumed his GARY role in the KL REUNION and his latest telemovie was shot in 2007 and titled MIRACLE DOGS. Since 2006 he´s playing a greedy lawyer in the daytime soap THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS (above, promotion image of Ted with Jess Walton). In 2013 he reprised his GARY role in 4 episodes of TNT DALLAS.
