LAURA AVERY

LAURA MURPHY AVERY SUMNER

(CONSTANCE McCASHIN):

Esposa de RICHARD AVERY y, a partir de la 7ª temporada, de GREG SUMNER. Con el primero, tuvo dos hijos, JASON y DANIEL, y con el segundo, a MEG. Oriunda de PITTSBURGH, Massachussets, su madre adoptiva falleció cuando ella tenía doce años, y ella tuvo que ponerse a trabajar para mantener a la familia.

Después de graduarse en la universidad, conoció a RICHARD y, al casarse, acordó con él dejar sus estudios para ayudarle a terminar la carrera de Derecho. La vida matrimonial de LAURA se fue deteriorando hasta que, años después, él atravesó una crisis laboral y emocional, y ella se vio obligada a emplearse en una agencia inmobiliaria. Las múltiples infidelidades de ambos estuvieron a punto de acabar con la pareja. Pero la relación se prolongó a causa de un nuevo embarazo de la mujer.

Finalmente, RICHARD la abandonó, dejándola sola con dos hijos pequeños. Más adelante, LAURA se casaría con GREG SUMNER, y triunfaría en los negocios como copropietaria de LOTUS POINT. Sin embargo, las cosas acabarían mal para la pareja, pues LAURA sufría un tumor cerebral que acabó con su vida en poco tiempo. GREG terminó dejando a su hija MEG a cargo de los MACKENZIE, que estuvieron a punto de perder su custodia cuando apareció la presunta abuela natural de la niña. Antes de morir, LAURA grabó un vídeo donde se despedía de su familia y sus amigos de KNOTS LANDING.

Wife of RICHARD AVERY and, from Season 7 on, of GREG SUMNER. She had two sons, JASON and DANIEL, with RICHARD, and one daughter, MEG, with GREG. Born in PITTSBURGH, Massachussets, her adoptive mother died when she was fourteen years old and she had to begin to work and make a living for her and her family.

After high school she met RICHARD and, when they married, she agreed to quit her courses so she could help him to finish Law studies. LAURA´s married life deteriorated until, years later, he went through a professional and emotional crisis, and she had to get a job at a real estate. Their various infidelities almost ended the couple´s life together. But the relationship went on due to her new pregnancy.

Finally RICHARD left her alone with their two little children. Later on, LAURA married GREG SUMNER, and hit success as co-owner of LOTUS POINT. Nevertheless, things would end badly for them, bacause LAURA had a brain tumor which killed her soon thereafter. GREG eventually let her daughter MEG at charge of the MACKENZIES, who almost lost her custody when the kid´s presumed natural grandmother showed up. Before dying, LAURA recorded a tape to say goodbye to family and friends from KNOTS LANDING.

MACK MACKENZIE

MARION PATRICK MACKENZIE

(KEVIN DOBSON):

Segundo marido de KAREN, primer amor de ANNE MATHESON y padre natural de su hija PAIGE. Además, él y KAREN adoptaron a MEG SUMNER y al adolescente JASON LOCHNER.

Nacido en NUEVA YORK, huérfano de madre, su padre les sometía, igual que a JASON, a malos tratos. MACK decidió convertirse en abogado y, en la universidad, conoció a GREG y a ANNE. Sin embargo, el acaudalado padre de ella les separó, antes de saber que estaba embarazada, y le hizo creer que le había sobornado para mantenerlo lejos. 25 años más tarde, PAIGE apareció por KNOTS LANDING para conocer a su padre y contarle la verdad...y un montón de mentiras más.

Tan honrado y fiel como SID, MACK sostuvo una longeva y difícil amistad con GREG, y resistió a las tentaciones que supusieron otras mujeres, como JILL, ANNE o PAULA. MACK regresó también en la miniserie-epílogo de KNOTS LANDING. Su personaje fue recreado en su juventud por el actor DOUG SAVANT.

Second husband of KAREN, first love of ANNE MATHESON and natural father of her daughter PAIGE. He and KAREN also adopted MEG SUMNER and became the foster parents to teenager JASON LOCHNER.

Born in N.Y.C., he had lost his mother, and his father abused him physically, just like JASON´s father. MACK decided to become a lawyer and met GREG and ANNE at college. However her wealthy father separated them, before knowing that she was pregnant, and made her believe he had bribed him to keep him away. 25 years later, PAIGE showed up in KNOTS LANDING to know her father and tell him the truth...and a lot of lies too.

As honest and faithful as SID was, MACK kept a long, hard friendship with GREG, adn stood up to the advances of other women, like JILL, ANNE or PAULA. MACK also returned for the KNOTS LANDING Epilogue-Mini-series. His character had been re-created as a young man by actor DOUG SAVANT.

LILIMAE CLEMMENTS

(JULIE HARRIS):

Madre de VAL y JOSHUA, hermana de VIRGINIA y JUNE, y viuda de JEREMIAH. Su gran sueño era triunfar como cantante de country, aunque ello supusiera perder a su familia.

Su relación con VAL tardó muchos años en recomponerse, hasta que ella apareció por KNOTS LANDING. Fue entonces cuando los viejos fantasmas resurgieron, y LILIMAE descubrió que había sido responsable de que a VAL la separaran de LUCY. Tras una temporada alejada de su familia, reapareció cuando impidió un robo en un parque de LOS ANGELES. Poco después, la detuvieron por hurtar un pañuelo en unos almacenes, y GARY se comprometió a acogerla en su casa.

Años después, les complicaron la vida algunos familiares secretos, como JOSHUA, fruto de su relación con el predicador JONATHAN RUSH. La muerte del intrigante CHIP atropellado por LILIMAE obligó a VAL a internar a su madre en un sanatorio, y, más adelante, también estuvo implicada en la violenta muerte de su hijo.

LILIMAE se marchó de KNOTS LANDING con AL BAKER, un viejo amigo de MACK que la invitó a recorrer el país en su caravana.

Mother of VAL and JOSHUA, sister of VIRGINIA and JUNE, and widow to JEREMIAH. Her big dream was to become a successful folk & country singer, even if that meant losing her family.

Her relationship with VAL lasted many years to be recovered, until she visited KNOTS LANDING. It was then when the old ghosts re-appeared and LILIMAE found out that she had been responsible of VAL being apart from LUCY. After living alone for awhile, she returned when stopped a robber at a LOS ANGELES park. Not long after, she was arrested for stealing a blouse out of a shop, and GARY committed to welcome her in their home.

Years later, a few secret kins complicated their life, such as JOSHUA, offspring of hers and preacher JONATHAN RUSH. When scheming CHIP was hit-and-run by LILIMAE, VAL had to commit her mother into a sanitarium, and, later on, she was also involved with her son´s violent deadly fall.

LILIMAE left KNOTS LANDING with AL BAKER, an old friend of MACK´s who invited her to ride around the country in his caravan.

GREG SUMNER

GREGORY SUMNER GALVESTON

(WILLIAM DEVANE):

Segundo marido de LAURA, con quien tuvo a MEG, y gran amor de PAIGE MATHESON. Estuvo casado también con la madre de esta, ANNE, y con JANE, que le dio a su hija MARY FRANCES.

GREG nació en N.Y., hijo natural de PAUL GALVESTON y RUTH SUMNER. Estaba muy unido a su presunto padre, un piloto que murió en la Guerra de Corea. En la universidad rivalizó con su amigo MACK por las atenciones de la caprichosa ANNE. Finalmente, se casó con JANE y se introdujo en el mundo de la política, primero en el ayuntamiento de L.A. y luego como Senador del Estado.

GREG sostuvo una aventura extraconyugal con ABBY, ganó las elecciones para el Senado, y JANE le pidió el divorcio, aunque, por entonces, ya se había enamorado de LAURA. PAUL GALVESTON apareció entonces para que GREG dirigiera su empresa Empire Valley, pero él se negó y, al morir, PAUL se la dejó en herencia a GARY EWING. La madre de Greg, RUTH, le convenció para hacerse cargo de las Industrias Galveston, que él rebautizó como GRUPO SUMNER.

Tras la muerte de LAURA, cedió la custodia de su hija a los MACKENZIE y revitalizó su carrera, casándose con ABBY y contratando a su amante PAIGE. Con esta mantuvo una relación desigual que tuvo que superar las interferencias de ANNE. Por fin, PAIGE y GREG se unieron como pareja, pero la negativa de él a tener más hijos provocó su definitiva separación. Este personaje fue interpretado por JOSHUA DEVANE en varios "flashbacks". GREG también participó en la miniserie de REUNIÓN de KNOTS LANDING.

Second husband of LAURA, with whom he fathered MEG, and PAIGE MATHESON´s greatest love. He was also married to the latter´s mother, ANNE, and JANE, who gave birth to their daughter MARY FRANCES.

GREG was born in N.Y.C., natural son of PAUL GALVESTON and RUTH SUMNER. He was very close to his presumed father, a pilot who died at the Korea war. At college, he was a rival to his friend MACK for the attentions of fanciful ANNE. He eventually married JANE and got into politics, first at the L.A. town hall and then as a State Senator.

GREG had an on/off affair with ABBY, won the election for Senate and JANE filed for divorce, although, by then, he already was in love with LAURA. PAUL GALVESTON came up to make GREG run his company Empire Valley, but he refused and, when he died, PAUL left it in his will to GARY EWING. Greg´s mother RUTH convinced him to take care of Galveston Industries, which he re-named SUMNER GROUP.

After LAURA´s death, he gave up their daughter´s custody in the MACKENZIES´ behalf and re-animated his career, marrying ABBY and hiring his lover PAIGE. He held an uneven relationship with her that had to overcome ANNE´s meddling. At last, PAIGE and GREG became a couple, but his refusal to have more babies caused their final separation. This character was played by JOSHUA DEVANE in several flashbacks. GREG also joined the KL REUNION mini-series.

PAIGE MATHESON

(NICOLLETTE SHERIDAN):

Hija única de ANNE MATHESON y su primer amor MACK. Su existencia se desconocía en KL hasta que, a los 19 años, apareció PAIGE decidida a conocer a su padre natural.

Pasó su solitaria infancia viajando con sus abuelos millonarios hasta que se instalaron en N.Y. Fue internada en una escuela suiza y estudió Historia del Arte. Tras enfrentarse a su familia, fingió su muerte y vivió del dinero que consiguió empeñando sus joyas. Las mentiras continuaron cuando se quedó a vivir con los MACKENZIE, y más tarde entró a trabajar en LOTUS POINT.

Su entrada en el GRUPO SUMNER levantó una polémica ya que todos conocían su relación con GREG. Otros amantes de PAIGE, como el Senador PETER HOLLISTER, el policía TOM RYAN o el psicópata PIERCE LAWTON, no fueron más que una fuente inagotable de problemas para ella. PAIGE sólo apareció en una escena de la REUNIÓN, rompiendo sus lazos con GREG.

Only daughter of ANNE MATHESON and her first love MACK. Her existence remained unknown in KL until, when she was 19 years old, PAIGE showed up to get to know her natural father.

She spent her lonely childhood travelling with her millionaire grandparents until they settled down in N.Y. She was checked in to a Swiss boarding school and studied History of Arts. After confronting her family, she faked her own death drown and lived from pawning her jewelry. Lies continued when she stayed at the MACKENZIES´, and later on she got a job at LOTUS POINT.

Her arrival at the SUMNER GROUP arised eyebrows because everybody was aware of her affair with GREG. Other lovers of PAIGE, such as Senator PETER HOLLISTER, the bad cop TOM RYAN or psycho PIERCE LAWTON, were just a never-ending source of problems for her. PAIGE only appeared in the first scene of the REUNION, breaking up her ties with GREG.
