ETAPA 10 (EMITIDA EN LA TEMPORADA 1988-89):

SEASON 10 (AIRED ON 1988-89 SEASON):

KAREN informa a ABBY y GARY de que su hijo y PAIGE son retenidos como rehenes y deben despejar el puerto. MACK viaja a MÉJICO y es objeto de una paliza a manos de los secuaces de MANNY, que lo dejan maniatado en un cuarto con CHAVAS. MANNY y HAROLD obligan a MACK a que llame a su mujer y colabore para que descarguen la droga sin interferencia. CHAVAS se libera y acaba perdiendo la vida en un tiroteo. MANNY se dispone a disparar a MACK, pero HAROLD le suplica que no lo haga, sin éxito. Finalmente, es HAROLD quien mata a su tío. FRANK encuentra a VAL en el suelo de su dormitorio, y la llevan al hospital. GARY va al hospital y JILL pierde los nervios. Luego ella también acude a ver a VAL, que está en el ala psiquiátrica. Su demente compañera de habitación grita a JILL: "Sé lo que sé..." JILL intenta cortar el tubo de oxígeno de VAL, pero esta mujer lo impide...

Karen tells Abby and Gary that Michael and Paige are being held hostage, so they clear the marina. Mac goes to Mexico. He is beaten up by Manny's men and tied up in a room with Chavas. Manny and Harold have Mac call Karen to let them unload the drugs with no interference. Chavas frees himself and a ruckus ensues. Chavas is shot. Manny is going to shoot Mack, but Harold implores him not to. Manny ignores him, so Harold shoots Manny. Frank finds Val and she is rushed to the hospital. Gary keeps vigil and calls Jill and tells her Val will be okay. Jill is extremely upset. She comes to the hospital. Val is in the psycho ward, and her nutty roommate screams at Jill, "I know what I know!" Jill tries to damage Val's IV tube, but the roommate stops her.

3/222: "DESERTED" ("ABANDONADOS")

Abandonados dentro del camión, todo el mundo pierde la calma y un anciano acaba muriendo. MACK encuentra el vehículo y los libera a todos, y llama a KAREN, que les prepara una cena de bienvenida. En casa, MACK les informa de que HAROLD los salvó a todos, e incluso ABBY se muestra amable con él. La policía encuentra cocaína en L.P. Todos tratan a VAL con mucha delicadeza, pero ella asegura alterada que no intentó suicidarse. JILL asegura a GARY que le tiene miedo a VAL, que duerme junto a un cuchillo de cocina. Cuando oye un ruido, despierta y recorre la casa, sentándose armada con el cuchillo durante toda la noche...

Stuck in the truck, tempers flare and an old man dies. Mac finally finds the truck and frees everyone. He calls Karen who prepares a welcome home dinner. Home, Mac tells everyone that Harold saved his and the kids lives, and even Abby's nice to him. The police come by and say they found cocaine at Lotus point. Everyone treats Val with kid gloves. She yells that she did not try to kill herself and stomps out the door. Jill tells Gary that she's really scared of Val. Val sleeps with a big knife. She awakes when she hears a noise, and searches the house. She sits up the rest of the night holding her knife.

Los medios se hacen eco del hallazgo de droga en L.P. y los huéspedes cancelan sus reservas. TED aconseja a GREG que organice una fiesta para recaudar fondos para el medio ambiente. VAL se alegra de que los WILLIAMS la crean, y FRANK comprueba que JILL sacó de su cuenta 800 dólares antes de su viaje. VAL pide a GARY que deje de visitarla o JILL nunca la dejará en paz. GREG descubre nadando en su piscina a una desnuda PAIGE..."¿Por qué no te bañas conmigo?" - propone ella. "No, nunca nado en aguas infestadas de tiburones..." Ella sale de la piscina y se acerca a GREG...

The drugs at Lotus Point hit the media, and guests check out. Ted tells Greg to throw an environmental fundraiser. Val is relieved that Frank and Pat believe her. Frank see Jill took out $ 800 a few days before her trip. Gary comes by and Val tells him not to visit her, because Jill will not leave her alone as long as he's in her life. Greg hears a noise and goes outside. Paige is swimming nude in his pool. "Well, why don´t you join me?" - she asks him. "No, I never swim in shark-infested waters..." She climbs out right in front of Greg.

GREG acaba acostándose con PAIGE. ABBY contrata a TED para que mejore la imagen de L.P. MACK atrapa a un chantajista que ha estado acosando a los WILIAMS, que solía trabajar en el hospital de PAT. MACK le sugiere que vuelva al Este, o le dará a la policía una cinta de su confesión que ha encontrado en su casa.

Greg sleeps with Paige. Abby hires Ted Melcher change Lotus Point's bad image. Mack catches a blackmailer who has been stalking the WILLIAMSES, and used to work at the hospital where Pat was a doctor. Mack tells him to move back east, or he will give the tape of the confession to the police.

TED comenta a GREG que su relación con PAIGE es una carga, porque la gente pensaría que pasa por una crisis de madurez y no se lo tomaría en serio. MACK consigue que los WILLIAMS no tengan que seguir escondiéndose gracias a un periodista amigo suyo que publica su fallecimiento en un accidente. KAREN y GARY llevan a VAL al hotel de S.F. donde se hospedó JILL, e interrogan a los empleados, que reconocen haberla visto, pero no después de las 8 de la noche. VAL dice que pudo haber vuelto en avión, pero GARY no la cree y la anima igualmente. En casa, JILL explica a GARY que tuvo una aventura aquella noche...

Ted tells Greg that to date Paige is a liability - everyone would think he's having a mid-life crisis and not take him seriously. Mack calls a reporter friend. A story appears in the paper that Federal Witness Dr. Sollars and her family died in a car crash in Seattle, so they won't have to live in hiding anymore. Karen and Gary take Val to the hotel in San Francisco where Jill stayed. They question employees who recognize Jill's photo, but no one saw her after 8:00 pm. Val says Jill could've flown back, but Gary doesn't believe her. He cuddles Val and says she'll get through this. Jill is upset that Gary went with Val, and tells him no one saw her after 8:00 because she had a one-night-stand.

7/226: "THE BRIAR PATCH" ("EL TROZO DE ZARZA")

GARY está muy molesto con JILL porque le ha confesado su aventura con DAVID. VAL conoce a este, que niega lo ocurrido. JILL asegura poder demostrarlo, y se ve con DAVID en un restaurante para hablar del tema, con GARY cerca de ellos. Este acaba diciéndole a VAL que JILL sí que tuvo la aventura. ABBY contrata a HAROLD en L.P. y coloca cocaína en su taquilla, y el joven es detenido, pero asegura a MACK que es una trampa. GREG prepara una cena romántica para PAIGE, y le regala un bol persa. ABBY y GARY convencen a KAREN para que vendan L.P., a punto de quebrar, y no pueden cambiar su imagen. KAREN accede a regañadientes, pero ABBY ha descubierto que hay petróleo en L.P. El lugar es vendido a una empresa japonesa llamada MURAKAME, en realidad propiedad de ABBY.

Gary's really upset with Jill. Val meets with David, but he denies the affair. Jill tells Gary she can prove it, and meets David at a restaurant to talk about their affair, while Gary sits nearby to listen. Gary tells Val that Jill really did have an affair. Abby hires Harold at Lotus Point, but then plants cocaine in his locker. Harold is arrested and tells Mac he was set up. Greg makes a romantic dinner for Paige, and buys her an antique Persian bowl. Abby and Gary convince Karen to sell Lotus Point, that it's going bankrupt, and they can't turn around its image. Karen reluctantly agrees. Abby discovers that there is oil on Lotus Point. The resort is sold to a Japanese company, Murakame, which is really owned by Abby.

8/227: "A FINE ROMANCE" ("UNA GRAN HISTORIA DE AMOR")

VAL asegura a JILL que, si le ocurre algo, todos sospecharán de ella. GARY confiesa a JILL que no le importa su relación, pero accede a dejarla quedarse con él hasta que encuentre un apartamento. Ella lo consigue pero se lo oculta y le dice que aún no está habitable. Redacta un anuncio de boda para ella y GARY. ABBY quiere que HAROLD se declare culpable y no quiere que MACK se entrometa. TED juega con PAIGE y ABBY, y le dice a GREG que debería presentarse a las elecciones para alcalde, y necesita una esposa, pero que no sea PAIGE. Esta y GREG juegan a "strip croquet", y él compra un enorme anillo de bodas. PAIGE se alegra cuando GREG sustituye un antiguo cuadro de LAURA con uno de PAIGE. Más tarde, el abuelo de esta fallece y, antes de marcharse, la pareja se profesa amor mutuo. GREG le enseña a ABBY el anillo y, cuando ella le pregunta quién es la afortunada, él responde: "¡Tú!"

Val tells Jill that if anything happens to her, they'll suspect Jill. Gary tells Jill he doesn't care enough to work things out, but agrees to let her stay until she finds an apartment. Jill finds one, but lies and says it's not ready. She writes out an engagement announcement for her and Gary. Abby wants Harold to plead guilty and doesn't like Mac's interference. Ted comes on to both Paige and Abby. He tells Greg he should run for mayor, and needs to get married, but not to Paige. Paige and Greg play strip croquet. Greg buys a huge wedding ring. Paige is pleased when Greg takes down a painting Laura gave him, and puts up the painting Paige gave him. Paige's grandfather dies. Before she leaves town, she and Greg profess their love for each other. Greg shows Abby the ring, and when Abby asks who the lucky girl is, he says "You!"

9/228: "A MANY SPLENDORED THING" ("ALGO MUY ESPLÉNDIDO")

HAROLD y OLIVIA hablan del matrimonio. En plena crisis de mediana edad, MACK coge un año sabático, pero vuelve loca a KAREN y ella le sugiere que se vaya a acampar a las montañas. ANNE informa a PAIGE de que su abuelo la dejó fuera del testamento, y ella también lo hará. PAIGE dice que no le importa, porque GREG la ama, y ANNE responde: "Sí, y yo soy la Reina de Inglaterra..." GREG comunica a ABBY que su unión será una política, ya que juntos pueden ir mucho más lejos. Los dos pueden valorar los métodos retorcidos y engañosos del otro, y ABBY le dice que sí. Cuando llega a casa, GREG encuentra a PAIGE dormida en su cama, la observa un momento y luego vuelve a marcharse.

Harold and Olivia discuss marriage. Mack, feeling old, takes a leave of absence. He drives Karen crazy, and she suggests he go camping in the mountains. Anne tells Paige that her grandfather cut Paige out of the will and she's cutting her off too. Paige says she doesn't care because Greg loves her. Anne replies, "Yeah, and I'm the Queen of England!" Greg tells Abby their marriage will be a political one, since they can go twice as far together. He says they can appreciate each other's devious, conniving brains like no one else. Abby agrees to marry him. Greg gets home, and Paige is asleep in his bed. He watches her for awhile and then leaves.

10/229: "CABIN FEVER" ("LA FIEBRE DE LAS CABAÑAS")

MACK va a las montañas y conoce a la guardabosques PAULA VERTOSICK. Enseguida conectan y él se siente halagado cuando le invita a pasar la noche con ella. Pero él vuelve con KAREN, que le ha echado de menos. PAIGE encuentra el anillo de compromiso y supone que es para ella. Luego compra una revista de novias y KAREN le pregunta si está ayudando a GREG y ABBY a preparar su boda. PAIGE se queda destrozada, y GREG alega que malinterpretó su relación, y se muestra muy frío con ella, aunque esta decide seguir trabajando para él. ABBY planea la ceremonia con TED, y quieren que sea un evento mediático. GREG y ABBY convocan una conferencia de prensa para anunciar su boda y la candidatura de él para alcalde.

Mac goes to the mountains and meets Forest Ranger Paula Vertosick. They hit it off, and he is flattered when she invites him to spend the night with her. Instead, he goes home to Karen, who realizes she misses him. Paige finds the engagement ring, and assumes it's for her. She buys a bridal magazine and Karen asks if she's helping Greg and Abby plan their wedding. Paige is crushed. Greg tells her she misinterpreted their relationship, and is very cold to her. She decides to continue working for Greg. Abby plans the wedding with Ted, wanting it to be a media event. Greg and Abby hold a press conference to announce their marriage and his candidacy for mayor.

11/230: "MERGER MADE IN HEAVEN" ("UNA FUSIÓN CREADA EN EL CIELO")

OLIVIA descubre que ABBY colocó la cocaína en la taquilla de HAROLD, y la amenaza con usarlo para arruinar la carrera política de GREG, por lo cual ABBY accede a retirar los cargos. Irritado ante el comportamiento indeciso de JILL, GARY hace una reserva de hotel para ella y le pide que no vuelva. CARLOS, a quien le cae bien PAIGE, pregunta a GREG si de verdad va a celebrar la boda, y este decide trasladar a PAIGE a la oficina de la empresa. Ella utiliza a TED para poner celoso a GREG, y le envía un equipo de croquet. Furioso, GREG le pide que deje de jugar con él. Antes de la boda, la joven le hace una última súplica, pero él le confía que podría estar con hombres mejores que él, que sólo la ha herido y decepcionado. ABBY y GREG se casan por fin...

Olivia discovers that Abby planted the cocaine in Harold's locker, and threatens to use it to ruin Greg's political career, so Abby agrees to drop the charges. Irritated by Jill´s indecisive behavior, Gary makes a hotel reservation for her and tells her not to come back. Carlos, who likes Paige, asks Greg if he's really going through with the wedding. Greg decides to move Paige to the corporate office. Paige uses Ted to make Greg jealous, and sends him a croquet set. He angrily tells her to quit pulling stunts. Before the wedding, Paige makes one more plea to Greg. He tells her that she can do better than him, he'd only hurt and disappoint her. Abby and Greg get married.

La tía GINNY trae a casa a los gemelos y acepta quedarse una temporada con ellos. MACK abre su propio bufete y PEGGY decide trabajar para él. DAVID irrumpe en la oficina de JILL y le dice que es una golfa que le ha pasado una enfermedad venérea. El Departamento de Salud contacta con ella y con GARY para informarles que han sido expuestos a la sífilis. JILL fija la cita antes que GARY y le dice al médico que están a punto de casarse. GARY oye a la enfermera preguntarle si quiere otra receta, luego llama al médico y le dice que sí la quiere, pero que él desea ver el informe de la compañía de seguros. Acaba descubriendo que era una receta para barbitúricos y fue entregada antes de que JILL fuera a S.F. El médico comunica a GARY y JILL que ninguno de los dos tiene la enfermedad venérea. GARY se sorprende de que JILL no la cogiera de DAVID, y confía a MACK que tal vez VAL esté diciendo la verdad...

Val's aunt Ginny brings the twins home, and decides to stay for awhile. Mack opens his own practice, and Peggy decides to work for him. David Lamb bursts into Jill's office and says she is a slut who gave him VD. The Health Dept. calls both Jill and Gary to say that they have been exposed to Syphilis. Jill makes her appointment right before Gary's and tells the doctor they're getting married. Gary overhears nurse ask Jill if she wants another prescription. Gary calls the doctor and says Jill wants another prescription, and he'd like the insurance transcript. He discovers it was for barbiturates and was filled before Jill went to San Francisco. The doctor tells Gary that neither he nor Jill have an STD. Gary thinks it's strange that Jill didn't get VD from David, and tells Mack he thinks Val may be telling the truth.

MICHAEL está interesado por ELLEN, una compañera de clase, pero a ella le gusta JOHNNY. JILL se compra un vestido de novia mientras que GARY es detenido por entrar en su apartamento. Ella dice a la policía que lo suelte porque sólo se trata de que él no puede aceptar su ruptura. MACK localiza a la falsificadora, pero resulta que está en coma y agonizando en el hospital. GARY recuerda que VAL no había recogido su receta, y PAT dice que si se mezcla un barbitúrico con alcohol, se puede perder el conocimiento. MACK y GARY visitan a DAVID, que admite que sólo recuerda haber ido a la habitación de JILL, y despertar allí a la mañana siguiente...

Michael likes Ellen, a classmate, but she likes Johnny. Jill buys a wedding gown. Gary is arrested for breaking into Jill's apartment, but Jill tells the police to let him go because Gary just can't accept their breakup. Mac finds the forger, but she's comatose and dying in the hospital. Gary remembers that Val hadn't had her prescription filled. Pat says if a barbiturate is mixed with alcohol, it will knock someone out. Mack and Gary go to see David Lamb, who admits to them that all he remembers is going to Jill's room, and then waking up the next day.

ABBY presiona a GREG para que recupere a MEG. MACK le dice a GREG que eso no pasará ni por encima de su cadáver. Preocupada porque todos creen a VAL, JILL se somete a un detector de mentiras y lo supera. Luego ella accede a ir a ver al terapeuta de GARY y este llega a la conclusión de que está deprimida por la ruptura, aunque no perturbada. GARY quiere que VAL y los niños se queden en el rancho, pero ella se niega a huir de JILL. Al final, esta acude al rancho y corta parte de una cinta de la silla de montar de GARY...

Abby pressures Greg to bring Meg home. Mack tells Greg over his dead body! Upset that everyone is believing Val, Jill takes a lie detector test and passes. Gary asks Jill to see his therapist. The doctor tells Gary that Jill is depressed over their breakup, but not disturbed. Gary wants Val and the twins to stay at the ranch, but she says she refuses to run from Jill. Finally, the latter goes to the ranch and partially cuts a strap on Gary's saddle.

OLIVIA está muy afectada porque su madre quiere quedarse con MEG. MACK y KAREN contratan a un abogado. Cuando se enfrenta con ABBY, KAREN le pregunta: "¿Crees que LAURA querría que criaras a su hija?" La respuesta de ABBY es grosera, como siempre: "Ya no puede decir nada, ¿verdad? Está muerta..." KAREN abofetea a ABBY con dureza. TED quiere usar el caso de custodia para obtener publicidad, pero eso molesta a GREG. JULIE cae del caballo de GARY y se rompe el brazo, y un peón del rancho le dice a GARY que alguien cortó una cuerda de su silla deliberadamente. GARY asegura a JILL gritando que no le permitirá que haga daño a VAL ni a los niños. Pero ella entra a hurtadillas en su casa y le espera en la cama, aunque se enfada cuando no vuelve a casa. GARY pasa la noche en su auto, aparcado frente a la casa de VAL. JILL pasa por allí y lo ve. PAT acude al rancho y ve cómo JILL espía a GARY con prismáticos, y corre a decírselo. PAT se sobresalta al saber que JILL manipuló la silla de montar y JULIE pudo haber muerto, y GARY la consuela...

Olivia's very upset that Abby wants to take Meg. Mack and Karen get an attorney. When she confronts Abby, she asks her: "Do you think Laura would have you raise her child?" Abby´s answer is rude, as usual: "She doesn't have much to say about it anymore, she's dead!" But Karen´s reaction is more painful to Abby: she just slaps her face. Ted wants to use the custody case for publicity, but that disgusts Greg. Julie falls off Gary's horse and breaks her arm. A ranch hand tells Gary his saddle had deliberately been cut. Gary goes to Jill and screams at her that he will not allow her to hurt Val or the twins. Jill sneaks into Gary's house and waits for him in bed, but is upset when he doesn't come home. Gary sleeps in his car outside of Val's. Jill drives by and sees his car. Pat goes to the ranch and sees Jill spying on Gary with binoculars. She runs to tell Gary. GREG se pone lívido cuando ve en el periódico un artículo sobre MEG. Después celebra una rueda de prensa para informar de que entregó a la niña a los MACKENZIE cuando murió LAURA, y sería traumático separarla de la única familia que ha conocido. Esto enfurece a ABBY y TED. GARY irrumpe en el despacho de JILL y le exige que desaparezca de su vida. La policía le entrega más tarde una orden de alejamiento. JILL acosa a los gemelos en la biblioteca, y cuando VAL se entera, va corriendo a la oficina de JILL y la pone patas arriba. VAL le grita que se aleje de ella y coge unas tijeras:

"Crees que puedes salirte con la tuya, pero no es así. Ya no, porque nadie te cree ni confía en ti. Esta será la última vez que amenazas a nadie. Ni te atrevas...¿Quieres saber lo que es sentir terror? ¿Temer cada ruido...? No sólo por tu bien sino por el de tus hijos y familias. ¿Me estás escuchando? Y no es la "pobre VAL" quien habla ahora. Ya no soy ella. Porque a partir de ahora será "Pobre JILL"..." Una asustada JILL huye de la oficina. Al saber que JILL ha visto a los gemelos, GARY va corriendo a casa de JILL. VAL también acude allí e intenta calmar a GARY, y se paran a charlar en un parque. De camino a casa, GARY es detenido por la policía. Abren su capó, y encuentran allí a JILL, atada, amordazada y muerta...

Greg is livid when the paper has an article about Meg. Greg gives a press conference saying he gave Meg to the McKenzies when Laura died, and it would be traumatic to remove her from the only family she's ever known. Abby and Ted are furious. Jill continues breaking into the ranch, so Gary bursts into her office and screams to get out of his life. The Police later serve Gary with a restraining order. Jill runs into the twins at the library, and when Val finds out she barges into Jill's office and trashes it. Val screams at Jill to stay away from her and grabs scissors:

"You think you can get away with anything, but you can't - not anymore. Because nobody believes you anymore. Nobody trusts you anymore. And this is the last time you're gonna threaten anyone. Don't you dare! You wanna know what it's like to feel terror? To be afraid of every sound, huh? Not just for your own sake, but for your children's and your families. Do I have your attention?! And this is not 'Poor Val' talking! I am not 'Poor Val'! Because from now on it's gonna be 'Poor Jill'..." Scared Val will stab her, Jill runs from the office. Hearing Jill saw the twins, Gary rushes to Jill's apartment. Val goes to Jill's and tries to calm Gary down. They walk over to a park to talk. Driving home, Gary is pulled over by the police. They open his trunk. Jill is in the trunk - bound, gagged, and dead.

PAIGE filtra una historia que confirma falsamente que GREG sigue luchando por la custodia de MEG, que lleva a su fracaso en las elecciones. ABBY sugiere que aspire a un cargo designado. GARY es detenido por el asesinato de JILL. El forense dice que la causa de la muerte fue asfixia con el vómito. La policía halla fibras de la piel de GARY bajo las uñas de JILL, y él tiene arañazos en el cuello. Además un testigo afirma haberle visto colocando el cadáver en el capó y da su descripción y el número de su matrícula. GARY sale bajo fianza y PAT intenta animarle. GARY explica a MACK que, cuando estuvo en casa de JILL, le ordenó que dejara de esperar que volvieran a estar juntos. Le dijo: "No sólo no te quiero, sino que te detesto, odio verte y oír tu voz, odio tu olor y tus gestos..." JILL llora cuando él se va y le araña en el cuello mientras intenta besarle, pero él la empuja hacia atrás y se marcha...

Paige leaks a story that Greg is still fighting for Meg's custody, and he loses the election. Abby says he'll have to go for an appointed position. Gary is arrested for Jill's murder. The coroner says the cause of death is asphyxiation on vomit. Police find fibers of Gary's skin under Jill's nails, and Gary has scratches on his neck. Police say a witness called and said they saw Gary put the body in the trunk and gave his description and license plate number. Gary gets out on bail, and Pat tries to cheer him up. Gary tells Mac that when he was at Jill's he told her to stop hoping they would be together. He tells her: "Not only do I not love you, I absolutely hate you. I hate the sight of you, I hate your voice, I hate the way you smell, I hate your mannerisms....", etc. Jill cries as he leaves and grabs his neck and scratches him. Jill tries to kiss him and Gary pushes her back and leaves.

MICHAEL presenta a PAULA a su madre. La joven accede a ayudarla con el informe ecológico y KAREN la invita a cenar. PAULA se siente incómoda al ver allí a MACK. GINNY insiste en que VAL busque otra pareja. TED informa a GREG de que el Presidente va a nombrar a un nuevo representante de comercio en JAPÓN, y este quiere que le consiga el puesto. Luego decide entrevistarse con MURAKAME para el tema de los permisos de explotación petrolífera, así que ABBY contrata a un actor para interpretar a NAGATA. PAIGE contrata al Sr. TOYA para que verse a GREG en el protocolo de negocios japonés. PAIGE quita un cartel de "no funciona" del ascensor, y ABBY se queda encerrada en él durante dos horas. Luego le dice a GREG que ha ofendido a NAGATA, y este ha declinado hacer negocios con él...

Michael introduces Karen to Paula. Paula agrees to help Karen with environmental reports, and Karen has her for dinner. Seeing Mac, Paula is uncomfortable. Ginny pushes Val to find herself a man. Ted tells Greg the President is going to appoint a new trade representative in Japan, and Greg wants Ted to get it for him. Greg wants to meet with Murakame about getting them oil permits, so Abby hires an actor to play Mr. Nogata. Paige hires Mr. Toya to verse Greg in Japanese business protocol. Paige takes an "out of order" sign off the elevator and Abby gets stuck for two hours. Later Abby tells Greg that he offended Nogata, and passed on his deal.

MICHAEL y ELLEN deciden registrar su programa informático, pero JOHNNY se les adelanta y se lo presenta a GREG, que expresa interés por él. KAREN y PAULA descubren que Murakame va a perforar en zonas protegidas de L.P., toman fotos y lo guardan todo en el ordenador de PAULA en la universidad. MICHAEL se lo dice a ABBY, que lanza un virus en el sistema informático de la universidad, y toda la información de PAULA desaparece. VAL planea volver a escribir, mientras que KAREN intenta emparejar a GARY con PAULA, aunque él está más interesado en una mujer que tiene su número memorizado en su teléfono por accidente. Ella no le dice cómo se llama por lo cual él la llama "la amiga de SALLY". PAIGE desenmascara a NAGATA, que resulta ser un actor contratado por TED. Este le advierte que, si se lo dice a GREG, él le dirá que fue ella quien filtró a la prensa la historia que le costó las elecciones...

Michael and Ellen decide to copyright their computer program, but Johnny already has. He brings it to Greg, who's interested in buying it. Karen and Paula find that Murakame is going to drill for oil in protected parts of Lotus Point. They take photos and document it in Paula's computer at the University. Michael tells Abby, who releases a virus in the college computer system, and it eats all of Paula's data. Val begins to write again. Karen tries to set Gary up with Paula, but he's more interested in a woman who accidentally programmed his number into her phone. She doesn't give her name, so he calls her "Sally's Friend". Paige discovers that Nagata is an actor whom Ted hired. He says if she tells Greg, he'll tell him she released the story that cost him the election.

El profesor de MICHAEL y ELLEN informan de que su programa ha plagiado otro donado por GREG, y les abre un expediente académico. GREG le dice a MICHAEL que se lo compró a JOHNNY, y el joven responde que piensa demandarle. PAULA reconoce ante MICHAEL que está enamorada de un hombre casado, pero no revela que es MACK. ABBY paga a NAGATA para que vuelva a JAPÓN, pero él le pide más dinero. PAIGE sigue al actor y ve cómo TED le da un maletín lleno de dinero. En casa, PAIGE descubre por las noticias que NAGATA ha sido asesinado. Justo entonces, TED aparece y le explica que lo asesinaron. PAIGE le pregunta cómo lo sabe, y él responde que lo ha visto en el TV de la recepción. GINNY regala a VAL un ordenador y contrata a DANNY WALESKA para que le enseñe cómo usarlo. VAL y DANNY acabarán comiendo juntos...

Michael's and Ellen's professor tell them their program is plagiarized from a program donated by Greg, and puts them on probation. Greg tells Michael he bought it from Johnny. Michael tells Greg he is going to sue him. Paula admits to Michael she's in love with a married man, but doesn't tell him it's Mac. Abby gives Nagata money to go back to Japan, but he blackmails her for more. Paige follows Nagata, and sees Ted give him a briefcase of money. Home, Paige sees on the news that Nagata was killed. Just then Ted comes by and tells her he was killed. Paige asks how he knew and he says he saw it on the TV in the lobby. Ginny buys Val a computer, and hires Danny Waleska to teach her how to use it. He and Val go out to lunch.

VAL y DANNY se van de picnic a la playa. GREG ofrece a JOHNNY 10.000 dólares por dejar la ciudad. KAREN invita a PAULA a quedarse con ellos cuando las tuberías de su apartamento revientan. Además, intenta averiguar quién posee Murakame, sin éxito, y considera que hay algo sospechoso en la empresa. PAIGE descubre que TED trabaja para los japoneses, y él le dice que pagó a NAGATA para que nadie le asociara con Murakame. Frustrada por las intromisiones de PAIGE, ABBY manipula la factura de gastos de la joven. BOB les presenta a ella y GREG el informe sobre PAIGE y su apartamento. El deja a ABBY que se encargue, y ella despide a PAIGE. Esta enfurece e insiste en hablar con GREG, pero él se ha marchado en viaje de negocios...

Val and Danny have a picnic on the beach. Greg gives Johnny $10,000 to leave town. Karen invites Paula to stay with them when the pipes in her apartment burst. Karen tries to find out who owns Morikame, but she can't and thinks there's something fishy about the company. Paige finds out Ted works for Murakame. Ted tells Paige he gave Nagata the money so he wouldn't tell anyone Ted was associated with Murakame. Frustrated that Paige keeps butting in, Abby doctors Paige's expense report. Bob tells Abby and Greg about Paige's report and also about her apartment. Greg tells Abby to handle it so she fires Paige. Paige is furious and wants to talk to Greg, but he won't talk to her as he's leaving town on business.

GREG se entrevista con el Secretario de Estado respecto al cargo en JAPÓN. MACK, KAREN y PAULA deciden denunciar a Murakame y descubrir quién está detrás de la empresa. El abogado de ABBY, RICK HAWKINS, le comunica que no ha conseguido el permiso de perforación, y que, si sus antiguos socios se enteran de que es la dueña de Murakame, podría ir a la cárcel por fraude. Le pide a RICK que falsifique la fecha de sus documentos y haga constar una anterior, pero que se lo oculte a TED. Entonces ABBY seduce a este y le pide que se haga pasar por el propietario de la empresa, y ella le dará la mitad de sus beneficios. TED accede y firman la documentación. ABBY pide a RICK el contrato original, pero él alega que los destruyó. PAIGE curiosea en casa de ABBY e informa a RICK de que ella y TED le han puesto una trampa. Más tarde, RICK le envía unos documentos a PAIGE al GRUPO SUMNER, pero ABBY los tira a la basura. RICK aparece muerto en su bañera, electrocutado por un secador de pelo...

Greg meets with the Secretary of State about the job in Japan. Mac, Karen and Paula decide to sue Morikame and to find out who owns it. Abby's Murakame Atty., Rick Hawkins, tells Abby she didn't get the oil permits, and if her former partners find out she owns Murakame, she could be imprisoned for fraud. She asks Rick to predate her documents, but not to tell Ted. Abby then sleeps with Ted and asks him to pose as Murakame's owner, and she'll give him half the oil profits. Ted agrees, and they sign the papers. Abby wants the original documents, but Rick says he shredded them. Paige snoops at Abby's and then tells Rick that Ted and Abby are setting him up. Rick later sends some documents to Paige at Sumner Group, but Abby throws them away. Rick is dead in his bathtub, electrocuted by a hairdryer.

26/245: "THE HEAT OF PASSION" ("EL CALOR DE LA PASIÓN")

ABBY informa al Secretario de Estado de que el publicista de GREG es el dueño de Murakame, y ha intentado perforar en tierra protegida. Luego se lo dice a GREG, que le ordena que lo despida ella, o le costará el cargo. TED cuenta a MACK que PAIGE fue despedida y es la amante de GREG. Por su parte, esta explica a GREG que ABBY es la dueña de Murakame y que TED ha matado a NAGATA y a RICK, pero él no la cree. Luego llega MACK y le pega un puñetazo a GREG. MORT encuentra la carta de RICK en la basura y se la entrega. Encuentra dentro una llave. TED descubre que ABBY sabía que no podía perforar y le engañó. Para vengarse, revela a KAREN que ABBY posee la empresa japonesa. ABBY organiza una fiesta de 18º cumpleaños para OLIVIA, y se queda atónita cuando ella anuncia que se casó con HAROLD esa mañana. KAREN comunica a ABBY que piensa hacer que la arresten por fraude ya que es la dueña de Murakame. Entonces GREG se da cuenta de que es cierto...

Abby calls the Secretary of State and tells him Greg's publicist owns Murakame and tried to drill for oil on protected land. Abby then tells Greg, who tells her to fire Ted or it will cost him the appointment. Ted tells Mac that Paige was fired and is Greg's mistress. Paige tells Greg that Abby owns Murakame and Ted killed Nagata and Rick, but he doesn't believe her. Then Mac rushes in and punches Greg. Mort finds Rick's letter in the garbage and brings it to her. It contains a key. Ted finds out that Abby knew she couldn't get the oil permits, and tricked him. To get even with her, he tells Karen that Abby owns Murakame. Abby throws Olivia an 18th birthday party, and is stunned when Olivia announces that she and Harold were married that morning. Karen rushes up to Abby and says she is going to have her arrested for fraud, because she owns Morikame. Greg realizes that it's true.

GREG es el dueño del edificio donde vive PAIGE y le ordena al administrador que la deje vivir sin que pague el alquiler, pero que no le diga que es cosa suya. ABBY concede una rueda de prensa para informar de que adquirió L.P. para impedir la perforación petrolífera, y que lo va a donar al gobierno como reserva natural. OLIVIA se traslada a casa de HAROLD, y ABBY le quita el coche y todas sus tarjetas de crédito. Cuando topa con PAIGE por casualidad, esta le dice:

"Durante años has mentido, engañado y estafado a la gente, y te has salido de rositas. Pero yo no te dejaré" - a lo que responde ella sonriente: "Eres buena, de verdad. Si te puntuara en la escala de ABBY, con ABBY siendo un 10, te daría un 6, que está muy bien para alguien tan joven e ignorante". Y PAIGE contraataca: 2No juzgo las cosas en tu escala, ni tampoco GREG". "No cuentes con ello" - añade ABBY. KAREN y MACK deciden escaparse a las montañas, y la primera invita a PAULA a acompañarlos. PAIGE intenta encontrar el apartado de correos al que pertenece la llave de RICK. TED va a casa de PAIGE y le dice que GREG y ABBY intentan matarle. Un coche trata de atropellarle, pero falla. El Secretario de Estado anuncia que ABBY es la nueva representante de comercio en JAPÓN. GREG le informa que es el responsable de que se denegara el permiso de perforación. ABBY pide a KAREN que vigile a OLIVIA. Después, se marcha en limusina con BRIAN, cantando "Don't Worry, Be Happy" ("No te preocupes, sé feliz")

Greg owns Paige's apartment building, and tells the manager to let her live there rent-free, but not to tell her he arranged it. Abby gives a press conference saying she bought Lotus Point in order to stop the oil drilling, and she is donating it to the government as a wildlife preserve. Olivia moves into Harold's, so Abby takes back her car and all her credit cards. When she meets Paige by chance, the latter tells her:

"For years, you have lied and cheated and conned people, and you've gotten away with it. But I am not gonna let you get away with this" - to which Abby answers with a big smile: "You're good. You really are. If I were rating you on the "Abby Scale" - Abby being a 10 - you'd be a 6, which is very good considering your youth and ignorance". And Paige counters: "Well, I don't judge things on the "Abby Scale" and neither does Greg". "Don't count on it" - she adds. Karen and Mac decide to get away to the mountains, and Karen invites Paula to ride along. Paige tries to find the post office box that Rick's key is to. Ted goes up to Paige in her parking garage and says that Greg and Abby are trying to kill him. A car tries to run him down, but misses. The Secretary of State announces that Abby is to be the new trade representative to Japan. Greg's angry tells her he had Morikame's oil permits denied. Abby asks Karen to keep an eye on Olivia. Then Abby and Brian pack and drive off, singing "Don't Worry, Be Happy."

28/247: "DOWN CAME THE RAIN AND WASHED THE SPIDER OUT" (II)

De camino a la montaña, KAREN se tuerce el tobillo en una estación de servicio, y debe pasar la noche en un hospital. Sólo hay un motel cerca de allí, e insiste en que MACK y PAULA se alojen allí. Pero sólo queda una habitación y con cama de matrimonio, y MACK decide dormir en el coche. Empieza a llover copiosamente, y MACK debe cambiar uno de los neumáticos. Entonces, una mofeta lo rocía con su olor. PAIGE encuentra su apartamento desordenado y echa de menos la llave de RICK. TED ha descubierto que MORT le dio la carta y la llave de RICK, y la sigue y acosa para que lo ayude. Asustada de él, PAIGE corre al rancho de GREG y él le asegura que se ocupará de TED. PAIGE y GREG duermen juntos, y ella halla la llave de RICK en el dormitorio de GREG cuando este despierta. De repente sospecha que él pudo haber matado a RICK y sale corriendo en mitad del aguacero. GREG le pide que entre, pero TED está fuera, y le grita a PAIGE que es cierto que GREG es un asesino. Este le pide que no lo crea...

On the way to the mountains, Karen breaks her ankle at a gas station. She has to stay overnight at the hospital. There is only 1 motel nearby, and she wants Mac and Paula to stay there. The motel only has one room with a twin bed, so Mac says he'll sleep in the truck. It starts pouring rain, and Mac has to change his flat tire. Then he is squirted by a skunk. Paige comes home to find her apartment trashed and Rick's key missing. Ted, who found out that Mort gave her Rick's letter and key, follows Paige and harasses her to help him. Scared of him, she runs to Greg's ranch, and Greg says he'll take care of Ted. Paige and Greg sleep together. She find's Rick's key in Greg's room as Greg wakes up. She's suddenly scared that he killed Rick, and runs out into the pouring rain. Greg comes out and yells at her to get inside. Ted is out there, and yells at her that what he told her about Greg being the murderer is true. Greg yells not to believe him...
