Individual handicap competition.
This season's Bagshaw Trophy has been won by Paul Seekings of Clarence TTC. Twenty players took part in the event spread across 4 groups during the week of 10th September. The 8 players who contested finals night at the RI on Friday 14th September were split into two groups of 4. Group 1 consisted of Mark Antrobus, Jacob Martindale and Filip Wojtkowiak (all York RI) and Ian Oxborough (Wigginton & Haxby). Group 2 was made up of Chris Maude, Tom Lines and Paul Seekings (all Clarence TTC) and Andrea Potter (York RI).
In the group play-offs to decide the finalists Filip beat Jacob 42 -41 and then Ian 42.5 – 42, and Paul beat Chris 42 – 25 after losing to him earlier in the night.
It was a great final between Paul and Filip. Paul made a good start and had a good first end requiring Filip to keep him to below 6 in the second, which ended up being too big an ask.
Lots of games throughout the week were decided by marginal amounts. Overall it was a fantastic week with some great games. Congratulations to Paul, and well done to all other participants.
Thanks to Ryan Hood for organising the competition this year.
