Team handicap competition.
This year’s Summer League competition was won by Clarence B (Alfie Potter, Ryan Hood and Ian Williams). They beat York RI D (Jacob Martindale, Rich McCarthy, Mark Antrobus) 5-1 in the final. It was a tighter match than the score suggests. 12-year-old Jacob, who was only narrowly beaten by Ryan (42:38) and Ian (42:41), continues to improve both in technique and game play should have a bright future in the game. The crucial game was the first, Ryan vs Rich, in which Ryan, although ranked below Rich so gaining eight points start, played exceptionally well with top class extended rallies to secure victories in both legs to win out 50-30. This set the tone for the rest of the match, Rich gaining RI’s solitary game against Alfie, and Mark narrowly losing out to Alfie by four points; if this game and Jacob's could have been converted it would have been a closer run match.
The cup and awards were presented by Mike Dinsdale (York & District TTA Summer League Secretary).
Clarence B squad (l to r): Keith Webster, Alfie Potter, Ian Williams, Ryan Hood.
