Team handicap competition

This year’s Summer League final was a repeat of last year’s, with a similar result. York RI A (Mikey Arnold, Ben Lockyer, Peter Smalley) defeated Bootham A (Jimmy Mills, Rich Harrison, Lee Poulter) by 5.5 - 2.5. The match stood at 2-2 after Jimmy’s emphatic wins over Peter and Ben for Bootham and Ben’s big win over Rich and Mikey’s narrow win over Lee for York RI. Mikey then won handsomely against Rich and Peter beat Lee by one point to take York RI into a 4-2 lead. The joint star players of the match, Jimmy and Mikey, drew the crucial seventh game: Mikey won the first game 21-18 but Jimmy took the second 21-12 to pull back the six-point handicap. Ben then beat Lee to take his team over the finishing line.

The cup and awards were presented by Mike Dinsdale (York & District TT Summer League Secretary).
