Team handicap competition sponsored by Northern Powergrid

The finals of the York Table Tennis knock-out handicap team competitions, sponsored by Northern Powergrid, were played on Thursday 08/05/2014 at York RI. Both finals were close.

Shepherd Trophy - York RI A 5 (Richard Crowther, Paul Robertson, Filip Wojtkowiak) York RI J 4 (Mikey Arnold, Dave Smith, Geoff Leafe )

In the Shepherd Trophy, York RI J took a 3-1 lead but this was pulled back to 3-3 by York RI A before the next two were tied to leave the match at 4-4 going into the decider, in whch Richard Crowther beat Geoff Leafe. The man of the match was Mikey Arnold, who won two and a half points for the losers, while Richard Crowther led the way for the winners with two wins.

Machell Trophy - York R I F 5 (Lewis McCarthy, Ivan Guilliat, Peter Smalley) Bootham D3 (Dave Robinson, Nigel Reeson, Dave Quinlan)

In the Machell Trophy the match was tied at 3-3 before Lewis McCarthy and Ivan Guilliat took the next two for York RI F to take the title 5-3. Lewis McCarthy was man of the match, winning all three of his matches for the winners, while Dave Robinson won two for Bootham D.
