Bootham CC 'A' (Graham Cook, Paul Eastwood, Jon Wooldridge) win Division 1 for the third successive season, beating Holgate WMC ‘A’ (John Farmery, Graham Hatfield, Tony Reed) into second place. Martin Lowe topped the averages for the third season running, with Paul Robertson finishing second.

Division 2 was won by Groves WMC ‘B’ (Graham Carlton, Phil Hall, Peter Harpham, Dave Jackson), four points ahead of University ‘A’ (Tom Coleman, Jan Notolski, Greg Price, David Fitzgerald). Jan Notolski was top of the averages, with Phil Hall in second place.

York RI ‘E’ (Luke Blackburn,Jane Cohen,Pat Swindell) topped Division 3. Bootham CC ‘B’ (Gareth Bryning,Steve Milner,Ray Mitchell) were second again. Jane Cohen topped the averages by a clear margin.

Division 4 champions were NEDL/Bootham (Dave Boothroyd, Colin Dobson, Graham Perrin, Dave Quinlan). York RI F (Dom Ainger, Anne Barnard, Tim Griffiths) finished second, one point ahead of Holgate WMC D. Dick Kendall topped the averages, ahead of Graham Perrin.

University ‘B’ (Yuan Chen, Tom Coleman, Tim Mehta, Nigel Proctor) won Division 5, with York RI ‘H’ (Kenny Brown, Andy Grayson, Mike Shepherdson, John Smith) in second place. Tom Coleman topped the averages, with Chris Armstrong second.

Results

Martin Lowe (Coneysthorpe) retained the Men’s Singles title, again beating Richard Moss (Sessions) in the final.

Jill Rounce (York RI) retained the Ladies’ Singles, beating Jean Carter (York RI) in the final.

In the doubles, John Hughes and Paul Robertson (York RI) won the Men’s event, Jill won the Ladies’ event with Marian Broadbent (BT), and Jill won the Mixed Doubles with Tim Smith (York RI).

In the Junior Singles, James Parker (Sessions) beat Stephen Robinson (York RI), a reverse of last year’s final. James Atkins (North Yorkshire Coaching) won the Cadets event, beating Luke Blackburn (York RI) in the final.

Ian Stansfield (Malton) won the Clifford Trophy for the best performance. Ian won the Veterans’ Singles and reached the semi-finals of the Men’s Singles.

Summer League 2006

The Bagshaw Trophy (individual handicap competition) was held during the week before the start of the Winter League. Jon Wooldridge (Bootham CC) beat Andy Grayson (York RI) in the final. The other finalists were Richard Church (York RI), Richard Lillie (York RI) and John Stokes (Sessions).

The finals of the team handicap knock-out competitions were played at the Railway Institute on Friday 11th May 2007. In the Shepherd Trophy Shepherd Trophy Groves WMC ‘C’ (Mike Belton, John Orchard, Steve Potter) beat York RI ‘E’ (Luke Blackburn, Jane Cohen, Jeff Cohen) 5.5–2.5. In the Machell Trophy York RI ‘G’ (Mike Dinsdale, Chris Holmes, Chris Megone) beat York RI ‘B’ (Luke Blackburn, Mark Blackburn, Richard McCarthy) 5-0. Steve Tindall, of sponsors NEDL, presented the trophies.

The Summer League (2006) was won by Holgate WMC ‘C’ (Colin Dickson, Ray Holroyd, Steve Wands) beating YRI ‘B’ (Kenny Brown, Andy Grayson, Mike Shepherdson) 5-3 in the final.

Juniors: Finished 3^rd.
