What is your favorite track and field memory?
Making history for our girls track and field team this year.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start participating in track and field?
To trust the process, you aren’t going to come out and be the best, you need to be patient and let what you learn guide you.

How do you deal with nerves before a competition?
I talk to my coach Dave Mchnichol because he always knows how to get my mind off things.

How do you stay motivated during training?
I focus on what the outcome will be and remember I’m doing this for a reason.

What is your proudest moment as a track and field athlete?
Breaking the school record in Javelin at Derry Area.

What is your favorite quote?
“Failure is not the opposite of success. It is part of success”

What is the most important thing you have learned about focus in track and field?
That there are going to be people that are better than you, but you need to just do you and compete.

As the top-ranked girls' WPIAL AA Javelin thrower, Sophia has already made a name for herself as a fierce competitor. However, as the 2023 season heats up, she is ready to take things to the next level and show everyone her capabilities. Sophia is clearly in top form with two impressive invitational titles already under her belt this season at the Westmoreland County Championships and the Bill Wilt Memorial Invitational. But she is not content to rest on her laurels. Instead, she has set her sights even higher and is determined to throw over 145'  by the end of May. As the WPIAL Finals approach, Sophia is determined to stand on top of the podium of the girl’s Javelin.
