When did you first become interested in track and field?
I have wanted to start track and field since my freshman year but because of covid I couldn’t, I ended up starting my junior year.

How do you prepare mentally for a competition?
I try to remind myself I do track for fun, but ultimately that ends up not working. I just get so nervous that I think it makes me run faster.

What is your favorite pre-competition meal or snack?
I can’t eat before meets.  It makes me feel heavy, so I don’t eat at all.

What was the most challenging competition you have ever participated in?
Open 400 meter dash

What is the most important lesson you have learned from participating in track and field?
That stuff never gets easier, you just  have to get stronger.
What is your goal as a track and field athlete?
I started track to stay in shape for basketball, but I’ve ended up really liking it. My goal now is to win WPIAL's.

How do you balance training with other aspects of your life?
I think coaches understand the importance of having a good balance. They have short practices and I just work out and train when I have time. I don’t put too much pressure on myself to work out every single day. I think it’s equally important to physically be in shape but also mentally be healthy, and that starts with a good social life.

How do you deal with nerves before a competition?
That’s one thing I'm still trying to figure out, I get so nervous before every event I compete in.
What is your favorite track and field event to watch?
4x4

What is your favorite track and field event to participate in?
4x1

Ashley is a remarkable sprinter in the WPIAL, serving as the anchor for both Carlynton's 4x100 and 4x400 relay teams. As the anchor, she works even harder to support her teammates once she receives the baton. Although Ashley finished 6th in the 200-meter dash at the 2022 WPIAL Finals, missing the opportunity to participate in the PIAA Track and Field Championships by just one place has motivated her in 2023. This season, Ashley has been focusing on improving her speed for the 200-meter dash by running more 100-meter dashes. It wouldn't be surprising if she achieves a sub-26.2 time by the end of May, allowing her to qualify for the state championships this year.
