When did you first become interested in track and field?
I started running club track through Track Houston when I was five years old. I lived in Katy, Texas until I was 8.

What is your favorite pre-competition meal or snack?
Vanilla honey stinger, banana, yogurt with granola and fruit.

What is the most important lesson you have learned from participating in track and field?
The most important lesson I’ve learned would be perseverance. Through different injuries and upsets on the field, I’ve learned that you can’t let your worst days define you. In field events in particular, form, timing and power and key to performing at your best. When one is off or not 100% it’s easy to have a bad day. You must keep pushing through and not let your mind overpower your body.

What advice would you give to someone who wants to start participating in track and field?
Try every event because you ever know what you’ll thrive in.

What is your favorite track and field event to watch?
The 4x4

What is your favorite post-competition meal or snack?
Hot dog and a red Gatorade

What makes track and field a unique sport?
Field events make track a unique sport. Some people think track isn’t a “real” sport because almost all sports have running involved in them. When you think about the jumping and throwing events, not a lot of other sports can say those particular events aren’t special compared to other sports.
