Jesse Kobor is a halfling who stands just under 3 feet tall, but what he lacks in size, he more than makes up for in agility, strength, and willpower. His small size has often been an advantage, allowing him to slip into places others couldn’t, whether to hide from danger or to scout around undetected.His hair is a bit untamed, and his practical clothing always carries a few tucked-away trinkets. His vest, full of tiny pockets, holds hidden food and small items he's found over time; a coin from an unknown currency, an spare pair of socks, and a folded up hat. Jesse’s sharp eyes are constantly assessing his surroundings, a habit formed from years of having to be hyper-alert to survive.

Jesse’s early childhood is a blur of loneliness. He doesn’t remember much about his parents — why they abandoned him, or where they are now. At a young age, he was left to fend for himself, navigating the world alone, fighting for scraps of food, and always having to keep an eye out for threats. The trauma of being left behind has haunted him ever since, and while he has grown into something a more self-assured man over time, the scars of his youth remain. While halflings typically thrive in close-knit communities, Jesse grew up largely alone. He learned to provide for himself, struggling with trust and so often finding it easier to rely on his own instincts than on others.

Jesse has spent much of his life on the move, never staying in one place for long. He specializes in hunting the monsters that lurk on the edges of civilization — beasts, raiders, and giants — and his expertise in tracking allows him to navigate grasslands with ease. He has learned to wield a dagger and sickle with deadly precision. His spells, like his combat abilities, are focused on stealth, speed, and hunting. His experiences with monstrous spiders, harpies, and other terrors has left him with a constant sense of danger looming over him, and he struggles to shake the feeling that something terrible is always just around the corner. Experiencing flashbacks, nightmares, and bouts of hyperarousal — Jesse finds sleep difficult. In moments of high stress or danger, Jesse tends to rely on hyper-alertness, keeping him alive but never allowing him to fully relax.

When he does find rare moments of peace, they are usually short-lived, often spent curling up quietly, hidden somewhere in nature where he feels more at ease than among people.Jesse's loyalty to others is fragile. He deeply wants to form close bonds and build a new found family, but fear often gets in the way. Abandonment left him cautious, always questioning people’s intentions. He may not trust easily, but he feels a deep sense of responsibility toward others, and though cynical about the true nature of people, Jesse watches over those he cares about with a fierce protectiveness.

Critical Role

Jesse was born in Westruun, in Tal’Dorei, to a modest halfling family. On a trip to Wildemount, his parents abandoned him in the port city of Port Damali. Left to fend for himself, Jesse grew up homeless, surviving the streets of the city. He eventually left Port Damali and began traveling across Exandria. He has no permanent home — traveling across Exandria, he prefers the open road to cities.

Non-Fantasy (Trucker)

Jesse had a rough childhood, abandoned at a young age with little firm memory of his parents. His childhood was defined by surviving on the streets, often going without food and shelter. He developed hyper-alertness to danger, having faced attacks by gangs and the constant threat of theft or harm while homeless.After years of scraping by, Jesse found a job and eventually managed to work towards being an HGV driver. He rarely feels at ease in crowded places or around people he doesn’t know, but despite this, Jesse craves stability and belonging, constantly searching for a place where he can truly call home.
