This behind-the-scenes ministry is responsible for the vessels and altar linens used for the Eucharist at each Mass and for the preparation of the Bread and Wine supplied to the Mass in accordance with the rubrics of the Sacramentary and under the direction of the Pastor. High School students are selected by the Pastor and are trained for this ministry of service. They are needed before and after all the weekend and holy day Masses.

PARISH SACRISTANS – MASS COORDINATORS
Saint John Bosco Church is blessed to have several young Sacristans/Mass Coordinators who assist at our parish. These young men and women—ranging from Grade 8 to high school, college, and beyond—help with the preparation of the church and sanctuary for weekend and Holy Day Masses.
They recently received burgundy polo shirts to wear when serving in this role. They are also expected to wear pants or, for females, pants or a skirt. No jeans or shorts. The polo shirts include an image and the word Sacristan so they can be easily identified. Please feel free to approach them or Deacon Maurice if you have any questions.
Our Sacristans are here to assist you, as well as to prepare the altar, tidy up afterward, and help ensure that everything runs smoothly. If you are having a Mass celebrated for a special intention and wish to carry up the gifts at the Offertory, it is your responsibility to contact a Sacristan or the Deacon at least 10 minutes before Mass begins. After that time, they will select volunteers from among the congregation. Obviously, our sacristans are young and do not know everyone by name.
We are always grateful for additional help and could use one or two more Sacristans in 2026—male or female, preferably senior high school, college-age, or older. If you are interested, please contact Fr. Ric at 570-788-1997, Ext. 4. Training will be provided.
