MASS INTENTIONS
Mass intentions refer to the particular purpose for which a specific Mass is offered. Most commonly, a Mass is requested for the repose of someone who has died. Sometimes it is offered on or near the date of his/her birthday, anniversary or date of death or burial.
One should never forget the infinite graces that flow from the Sacrifice of the Mass which benefit one's soul, both for the living and the deceased. Although the origins of the practice of offering Mass intentions date to the earl church, we still recognize its importance today.
Daily, Holy Day and Sunday Mass intentions are offered at St. John Bosco Church, Conyngham and on Wednesdays of Lent, Holy Days of Obligation and Sundays at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, Weston. There are still many mass intentions for 2023 available at both Churches. Mass intentions may also be offered for special intentions such as 25th and 50th wedding anniversaries, special birthdays, etc. Simply call or visit the parish office to schedule one at 570-788-1997, EXT 3.
If you have mass intentions on reserve for deceased loved ones we request, if possible, to use them first. The customary offering for Masses is $10 and is due at the time that you schedule the mass. Masses are scheduled on a first come-first served basis.
You are also encouraged to schedule an altar, sanctuary candle or sanctuary flower in memory of a loved one, for a special intention or in thanksgiving. The intention and donor will be listed in the bulletin unless directed otherwise. Please write the intention and donor clearly, illegible writing may result in misspellings.

PREPARATION OF THE GIFTS • OFFERTORY PROCESSION
If a Mass intention is being offered at a weekend Mass for your family member or friend and you would like to bring the gifts of bread and wine to the altar, please notify a sacristan, deacon, usher, or the priest celebrant at least 10 minutes before Mass. After that time, ushers will choose a family or individuals from the congregation.
Please note: Ushers should not carry the bread and wine to the altar. Their role at that time is to bring up the collection.
