ADULT FUNERAL ACOLYTES

In our parish community we commend many souls back to God each year.  Adults with flexible morning schedules are always needed to help serve the funeral liturgies of our deceased brothers and sisters.  This is a wonderful way to show love and support both toward those who have died and their family members and friends. 

ADULT FUNERAL SERVERS NEEDED

We are currently blessed with five adult funeral servers who assist at St. John Bosco and Sacred Heart of Jesus Churches. However, because of the increase in the number of funerals we would like to have a third team. If you are usually available during the morning and would be able to serve at least one funeral a week, please contact the parish office at 570-788-1997, Ext. 3 or 4. Training will be provided and you will be placed with an experienced server. Adult funeral servers, carry the cross, assist with the offertory procession, hold the Holy water, assist with the Roman Missal, coordinate the thurible and incense, ring the bell and occasionally assist with Holy Communion. Our current adult funeral acolytes are: Joseph Gallagher, John Meier, Jim Palushock, Bonnie Yurko, Louisa Synex, Patty Synex, Judy Hall, and Diane Houser.

If you are retired, self-employed, work from home, off of work for the summer, etc. please consider volunteering to assist at our parish funerals.
