SACRED HEART OF JESUS CHURCH

MAINTENANCE DAY

On Friday, June 17, nine adult parishioners came out to volunteer to do repairs, painting and maintenance on our parish properties. Six doors were painted white (CYO Upper and Furnace Room, Church Basement, Sacristy, outdoor bathroom and the lower panel of the Rectory Garage lower panel. In addition, the pipe culvert running in front of the rectory garage was cleared. The two Church window wells were cleaned and new covers purchased and fitted, the five Rectory window wells were cleaned, four covers washed and reinstalled. Three additional covers will be purchased and installed this summer. The CYC skirt for 3 1/2 sides was cleaned and restained. A half wall and main outdoor stairway remains to be stained. A few more items remain: the wire brushing and painting of the railing along the ramp at the church side entrance and church front entrance and the power washing and some repairs to the Church aluminum siding. Three more doors need rust converter applied then primed and painted.

The rugs and upholstered furniture in the Church were cleaned a few weeks ago. Repairs are being made to two of the Rectory bathrooms. The rooms and closets in the Rectory and basement have been cleaned out. The Rectory outdoor wood trim and all inside Rectory rooms are being repainted and the hardwood floor in two of the rooms refinished this summer at no cost to our Church. Other needed repairs and basic improvements are being planned.

I am extremely grateful to John Driscoll who coordinated this volunteer work evening and to the following who gave their time for this work detail: Ed Lescowitch, Dave Phillips, Susan Driscoll, John Driscoll, Brian Driscoll, Annette Ambruch, John Ambruch, Patrick Driscoll and Tom Belusko. If others who were not available on that Friday would like to assist with the other items to be done this summer, please contact John Driscoll, Fr. Ric or any member of the transition team. With the volunteer help of many our properties will be restored and serve us for years to come. PLEASE CONSIDER VOLUNTEERING A FEW HOURS OF YOUR TIME THIS SUMMER TO ASSIST WITH SOME BASIC REPAIRS AND IMPROVEMENTS TO OUR CHURCH PROPERTIES.
