Just as learning continues throughout life, our Catholic faith is formed, informed and re-formed by our experiences as we grow older. The circumstances of life change and so do we. Why, then, wouldn't our faith develop and deepen, too?
The Second Vatican Council re-centered our understanding of faith formation on the Gospels and the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ; on the sacraments, especially the Eucharist; and on service to the world. This new, dynamic approach acknowledges these truths:
We learn throughout life and we are on a journey in which we never fully "arrive."
We deepen our understanding and practice of our faith throughout life as we encounter new challenges/opportunities.
We live and grow in community as we move together toward an active, living discipleship and a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
