Lectors proclaim the first and second readings at Mass. In the absence of a cantor or deacon they may also read the responsorial psalm or announce the intentions of the prayer of the faithful. Lectors are invited to serve by the Pastor and are trained in proclamation of Scripture.

SACRED HEART OF JESUS CHURCH
We are happy to welcome as a new Lector at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, SAGE BACHER. Sage is a high school student and proclaimed the Scriptures at our parish for the first time on Sunday, September 24. We thank her for volunteering to serve in the Ministry of the Word.
We are grateful to all of our Lectors at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church: Diane Petrovich, Jim Palushock, John & Sue Driscoll, Louisa and Patty Sinex and Sage Bacher.
We encourage parishioners to volunteer for our ministries at Sacred Heart Church, especially as: Choir Members, Ushers, Special Ministers of Holy Communion, Youth Altar Servers, Adult Funeral Servers, as members of the Parish Finance Board, Sacred Heart/St Joseph Cemetery Association, Parish Liturgy Committee or Parish Pastoral Council or to assist with the Christmas Giving Tree, Decoration of our Church and Sanctuary for the Holidays, Outreach to the needy at the Black Creek Food Pantry and Providence Emergency Shelter, Sacred Heart Building & Grounds Committee, etc. Please call the parish office at 570-788-1997, Ext 3 or 4 and give your name, phone number and area of interest. We are a very small Catholic Community of about 117 families/individuals and we need you to step up and volunteer your time, talent and energy for our Sacred Heart Church and Worship Site to survive and flourish.
