The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults is a community faith journey that leads to the transformation of mind, heart and spirit. This team process is designed for adults who were never baptized, those who were baptized in another Christian Faith Community as well as for baptized Catholics who have not received Communion or Confirmation. It begins in the late summer with the “Inquiry Stage”. At that point you are asked to contact the Parish Office to set up a meeting with the Pastor to discuss your desire to explore the possibility of becoming a Catholic. The sessions are held September through March in the Parish Office Conference Room from 10-11 AM.
CONSIDERING BECOMING CATHOLIC? ALREADY CATHOLIC BUT NEED TO RECEIVE FIRST EUCHARIST OR CONFIRMATION?
Saint John Bosco Parish offers weekly faith formation sessions for adults who are interested in becoming Catholic, as well as for baptized Catholics who have not yet received First Holy Communion and/or the Sacrament of Confirmation.
Sessions begin in mid-September and conclude in late March. Through prayer, discussion, and study, participants deepen their understanding of the Catholic faith and prepare to receive the sacraments.
If you are an adult and would like to learn more about becoming Catholic or completing your Sacraments of Initiation, please contact the Parish Office at 570-788-1997, Ext. 3, and leave your name and contact information. Fr. Ric will contact you during the summer to arrange an initial meeting and explain the process. Our OCIA Team (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults) warmly welcome your inquiry and would be happy to accompany you on your faith journey.
