Schultz Elementary PTO

Meeting Date: September 12, 2023                           Meeting Location: Art Room

1. Call to Order at 7:04pm / Board Introductions / Explanation of How Meeting will Run

2. Minutes: Review of minutes from 5/9/23 meeting—motion to approve A. Miley, 2nd L. Carr, all in favor

3. Treasurer’s Report 

• Budget Overview for 2023-24 School Year—created prior to 501(c)(3)

  • Income Changes: Anticipated Dine to Donate quarterly, but would like to do monthly, PTO to completely run Secret Santa for first time, Fun Run possibility, would love input on spiritwear (with online presence preferred)

  • Expenses: received 17/80+ staff jumpstart checks, staff t-shirts underbudget (thanks to Mrs. King)

  • 501(c)(3) Stipulations: $50,000 in and out for easy tax filing

• Funding Requests—

  • 3rd grade Nutcracker (Dec. 13)—T. Cinereski asking for $100 now to BalletMet to hold spot plus $615 for ~123 students (Total Cost $10/student where $5 PTO, $5 parents), Motion to approve R. Long, 2nd V. Mrazek, all in favor—approved!

  • 1st grade Cat Kid Comic Club (Oct. 16)—T. Cinereski asking for $4/student for ~130 students and not to exceed $300, R. Long wants to give up her $300 to fill that value

Discussion: Many errors to learn from last year, What are you giving up from library if you give budget to music for this?  Motion to approve as written B. Raker, 2nd N. Tibbitts, all in favor—approved!

• UPDATES

  • Pulp Fundraiser (Earned 50% back)-- $216.50, 

  • Mum Fundraiser-- $7,685.50, 50 students earned silly string

  • Pie Fundraiser (in October)—ProfitSense fundraising to line up with Superbowl, orders by 10/23 to guarantee delivery by Thanksgiving, slated for 10/2 but a little wiggle room

  • Spritwear Fundraiser—table for next month, ideally open all year—Conger has a connection with HomeStretch, Smith??

  • Staff Appreciation (P/T Conference Meals, October 12th & 18th)—need volunteers, $7-8/staff member—Empower ATA offered to purchase a meal, so we can buffer

  • Secret Santa (December 9th)—H. Ward has reached out to vendors from last year, can reply by 14th, then reach out to Schultz families, and then reach out to public

    • Extra Meeting in October

    • Already have Hayes singers, Santa, Schultz choir

    • Expanding raffle

    • Sign up for time slots??  Still discussing, sign in when get there and then we can text

    • Smaller time slots for volunteers??

5. Principal’s Report – Mr. Woodworth

•  Survived the power outage, need flashlights???

• Great start to school year

• We are growing, but we are so appreciative

• Principals Fund (from Kroger app, Kona Ice, etc.) can only be used for students (technology, field trip expenses, etc.)

6. Old Business

• 501(c)(3) was applied for in June 2023 and accepted!!!

7. New Business

• Volunteers Needed for Mum pickup on Saturday, September 16th

• Volunteers Needed Scholastic Book Fair (October 9th -19th)

  • Modern Woodmen started Book Fairy—if find it, give back to Mrs. Long and get a goodie bag

• Whit’s Dine to Donate (September 18th all day, but 5-7pm celebrity scoopers)

• Tara Simpson—Big Lots connection—Big Lots Foundation

• Katie Howard—experience emailing letters to businesses for raffles

8. Announcements

• Next meeting will be Tuesday, October 10th @ 7pm
