Schultz Elementary PTO

Meeting Date: March 21, 2023                       Meeting Location: Flex Room

Attendance: Heather Calhoun, Jennifer Larrison, Rose Long, Kristina McDonald, Angela Miley, Jay Miley, Holly Skedell, Lauren Skillen, Bree Saunders, Heather Stake, Melissa Stansbery, Heather Ward, Kaylyn Womeldorf

1. Call to Order at 7:02pm

2. Minutes: Review of minutes from 2/14/23 meeting

3. Co-President's Report

• Thanks for all of the fundraiser participation and volunteer help!

4. Treasurer’s Report

• Budget Update

  • Current balance: $10,863.81

  • Little Caesar’s Pizza Update– $7,725 sold (336 items+8 extra boxes sent to sell), $2,021 profit

  • Foertmeyer Flowers Update– $32,775 sold (1,582 items), $7,786 profit (88% goal of $8,800) 

    • 22.5% of student body participated

    • 109 students sold 5+ items, 36 sold 15+, 19 sold 20+, 11 sold 25+ (earning Strand Gift cards)

• Funding Requests

  • 4th grade: Ohio History Connection Field Trip (May 12)--$5/student from PTO + $5 from parent, $625--motion to approve A. Miley, 2nd H. Ward, all in favor—approved!

  • Kindergarten: Franklin Park Conservatory Field Trip (May 9 or 10)--$2/student from PTO + $5 from parent--$590 motion to approve A. Miley, 2nd H. Skedell, all in favor—approved!

  • 2nd Grade: Columbus Zoo Field Trip (May 11)--$5/student from PTO

    • Are they accepting membership cards?

    • PTO Not to exceed $300, motion to approve R. Long, 2nd K. McDonald, all in favor—approved!

***Discussion: in future, let’s stay consistent by asking for $5/child from parents and the difference will be covered by PTO

• Clinic: Refrigerator-- $250 freezer space for prepackaged ice packs, motion to approve M. Stansbery, 2nd R. Long, all in favor—approved!

5. Committee Reports

• Events

  • Spring Fling- May 12 (tabled discussion for April)

• Fundraising

  • Foertmeyer Flower Pick Up on Saturday, May 13, Volunteers Needed

• Staff Appreciation

  • Staff Appreciation Week (May 8-12)  (tabled discussion for April)

6. Principal’s Report – Mr. Woodworth

• Thank you for dinners!

• Schultz is a family

• State Testing coming up after spring break

• Parents will receive parent input form re: scheduling for next year (optional)

• Field Day is May 24 at Sunnyview/PPG Park (25th rain date)

7. Old Business

• 501(c) (3) update

  • Bree confirmed that IRS received change of address, ready to move on

  • Need to consult accountant to clarify questions re:1023-EZ (taxes/non-profit)—Miley’s dad?

8. New Business

• Will take nominations for board at April Meeting—VP definitely needed

• Melissa will post duties to Facebook

9. Announcements

• Kindergarten Parent Meeting, April 11 @ 6 (parents can stay after for PTO, childcare available)

• Next meeting will be Tuesday, April 11 @ 7 pm
