Schultz Elementary PTO

Meeting Date: March 11, 2024                       Meeting Location: Music Room

Attendance: Heather Calhoun, Avery Detrock, Denise Flahive, Melissa Hay, Jayme Hiller, Angela Miley, Jay Miley, Alyssa McVeigh, Bree Saunders, Jerilyn Schmidt, Lauren Skillen, Heather Stake, Melissa Stansbery, + virtual participants

1. Call to Order @ 7:01pm

2. Minutes: Review of minutes from 2/11/25 meeting, motion to approve J. Schmidt, 2nd J. Hiller, all in favor—approved!

3. Co-President's Report

·       Avery Detrock, Guest Speaker from United Way of Delaware County Family Resource Center—emergency food pantry (once a month access) with no income guidelines or ID requirements, access to Diaper Bank, community referrals to connect people with resources (organizations for rent, bills, etc.), beginning transportation *link available on DCS website under “for families”

4. Treasurer’s Report

o   Budget Update: February start balance: $19,660.20, ending balance $20,183.93

o   Funding Requests

• Kindergarten--Franklin Park Conservatory for Friday, May 9, 2025—$926.10, $7 per student ($5 parents, $2 PTO, chaperones to pay their own) $325 or less cost to PTO—motion to approve, J. Schmidt, 2nd J. Miley, all in favor—approved!

• First Grade—zoo, Friday May 2, 2025 $8/person ($5 parents, $3 PTO) ~$415 without memberships, L. Skillen, 2nd J. Miley, all in favor—approved!

• PBIS—5th grade rock project (pavers, epoxy, paint, etc), change from birthday pencils to birthday buttons next year (2 button makers + buttons), ~$260—motion to approve H. Stake, 2nd J. Miley, all in favor—approved!

§  Will need volunteers to make in small batches

5. Committee Reports

• Events

  • Pastries with Pacers (1 down, 2 to go)—134 last, 190 RSVP, people are liking the variety, signs on front door were helpful in keeping people out of the classroom spaces

  • Spring Fling—May 16, planning starting, meeting after spring break (April 1?)

  • Field Day—tshirt design voting—ready to get them back way in advance (early May), send home flyer week of April 7 and due 16th and order to be placed on 18th, continue $10/shirt, white shirt/black ink for students and grey for volunteers

• Fundraising

  • Order link live tomorrow through April 1

  • Foertmeyer Flower Pick Up on Saturday, May 10 truck to arrive @ 8am, Volunteers Needed

  • Parent’s Night Out—April 5, glow in the bark dodgeball and Nerf theme (BYO blasters), (in February 62 children attended)

• Staff Appreciation

  • Staff Appreciation Week (May 5-9)—raffle gift cards, pencil sharpeners, food truck (coffee truck?), pulp, non-food idea suggestions needed, cups for drink bar?, EVOwok?, Rutherfords

6. Principal’s Report –Mrs. Baisden

·       Children loved the silly hats for Read-a-Ton, class pictures coming up, Friday in-service, Kindergarten Parent Meeting coming up

• Open Board Positions (Secretary Needed) at April Meeting
