Claim Evidence Reasoning

• Observe a phenomenon

• Report on those observations either independently or with a peer, formulating Reasoning

Random Cards

• Fill out index cards with name on one side, and three likes on the other

• Use the cards for humor as well as random calling in a productive way to gain understanding of concept mastery

• Worksheets to fill out that engages staff with an activity

• Select a blob that represents how you are feeling

Blind Man and Elephant

• Useful for brainstorming and collaborating.

“Each blind man feels a different part of the elephant's body, but only one part, such as the side or the tusk. They then describe the elephant based on their experience. The moral of the parable is that humans have a tendency to claim absolute truth based on their subjective experience as they ignore other's experiences which may be equally true.”

Kaizen Teams

Cross-department collaboration is valuable for innovation. Some of my examples in education and management are:

• Forces lesson taught by my 11th graders to the 3rd graders

• Seniors reading aloud to kindergarten class

• Environmental Services (custodial) meeting with upper management to discuss protocol and required tasks at the hospital

Modeling: "I do, we do, y'all do"

• Lead by example

• Facilitate by community involvement

• Check for understanding with real-time participation
