Clozed Notes is a term from Education that refers to a worksheet that students fill out during a lesson that engages them with vocabulary and the content of that lesson, also a tool that increases Executive Function. See also Assessments

In a summer program, I noticed that BIPOC students, in particular, were acting out and not participating fully in activities. 

My actions were to:

1. Assess, observe, and seek input: 

• I verified with my colleagues that this was a common occurrence. 

• I engaged with students so they felt heard, and learned that they were feeling left behind.

2. Provide tools for success: I developed Clozed Notes worksheets for our lessons so that everyone had an equal opportunity to learn

3. Encourage inclusion: I instructed students to speak up when they weren’t able to follow along, and I clarified that our curriculum could only move as fast as our class could move as a whole.

4. Give grace while learning: I clarified my expectations among all my students of being tolerant of others' and their upbringings. Not everyone grew up with six simple machines in their bedroom.

5. Encouraged system-wide change: I encouraging my colleagues to use the Clozed Notes tool so as to provide an easier learning environment for all.
