This is my proposed program idea for University of Utah Commuting Services. Updated June, 2024
Here at University of Utah, being one of the state's largest employers, we as staff and students, all have an opportunity to be stewards of safe commuting. We expect that you will find this programming informative and helpful, as we address improving both our roads and workplace.
Not enough parking
Too many cars on the roads
Pedestrian near misses
Fender benders
Now that the parking stipend is in place, additional awareness or incentives for saving money by using public transit
Shared parking passes (once license plate per day)
Educate on stress levels, how that presents as road rage, and how stress effects health
Educate on how to reduce stress
Propose changing parking pass to "pay as you go"
Work with UDOT and SLPD to implement:
Reporting aggressive and reckless drivers
Red light cameras
University of Utah employees are required to complete trainings throughout the year, either quarterly, annually, or assigned with additional job responsibilities. The Commuter Stewardship curriculum is a series of online lessons, in-person trainings, and department activities
