330A

Overview

The 330A is Schindler's low-rise hydraulic elevator for the North American market. It was introduced in March 2001, and replaced the older 300A and 321A models. It is currently the only hydraulic elevator produced by Schindler.

Characteristics

330As are very common for low-rise applications. Many 3-5 story hotels have 330As, and they can also often be found in parking decks, hotels, and retail stores (such as Barnes & Noble or Zara)

330As can have HT, HT Vandal Resistant, or EPCO fixtures. 330A HT operating panels are two buttons wide, with the alarm button below door controls.

Older 330As (2001-2004) can have the low-pitched HT chimes, but these have been replaced with standard chimes on most 330As. 2005 and newer 330As almost always have the newer chimes.

Door close buttons almost always do not work in regular service on 330As.

Most 330As have ECI door interlocks. ECI interlocks have labels with the month and year of installation, making it easy to tell when a 330A was installed. For example, "05-03" means it was installed in May of 2003.

Older 330As (2001-2004) often have very loud motors, similar to a 321A. Newer installs are typically quieter.

The 330A design has been changed over the years. Our article Evolution of the Schindler 330A describes the changes in detail..
