KONE

KONE is a manufacturer of elevators and escalators. It is based in Espoo, Finland, and as of 2020 is the fourth-largest elevator manufacturer in the world.

KONE entered the North American market by purchasing Armor Elevator in 1981. They later acquired Montgomery's Canadian division in 1985, and the rest of the company in 1994, both of which became known as Montgomery KONE until 2000.

KONE's inventions include machine-room-less traction elevator, having introduced the MonoSpace model in Europe in 1996. KONE began selling their EcoDisc-powered MRL elevators in North America in 2000, along with continuing to produce modified versions of Montgomery KONE's hydraulic elevators. In 2007, KONE became the first major elevator manufacturer to stop producing hydraulic elevators.
