Minnesota Elevator
Overview
Minnesota Elevator (aka MEI) is an elevator company based in Mankato, Minnesota. The company was founded in 1971 and installs and services elevators across the country, from Minnesota to Georgia and California..
MEI is well-known among elevator enthusiasts for their high-quality hydraulic elevators. They are also known for installing tall (6 floors or more) hydraulic systems, large (often glass) hydraulic elevators, and for their "Reflex" hydraulic leveling system.
Characteristics
MEI's newer elevators usually have a unique position indicator. This is often mistaken for being a KONE or Schindler indicator.
They also can often be told by their chimes.
Many newer (2010s-2020s) MEI holeless hydraulic models have MEI's "Reflex" leveling system, which allows the elevator to level accurately, far faster than other hydraulic lifts.
