Otis is a manufacturer of elevators and escalators. Otis is a publicly traded corporation based in Farmington, Connecticut, and as of 2020 is the world's largest manufacturer of elevators, and second-largest manufacturer of escalators.
The company's founder, Elisha Otis, invented the safety elevator in 1852, establishing the modern elevator industry. The company was acquired by United Technologies in 1976, and was spun off into an independent company in 2020.
