Many women were sexually assaulted and the outcome was a feeling of fear, traumatization...and silence. Even though some women spoke out against their assaulter others choose to remain silent simply because their reputation depended on it. It is what a man accused of assault threatened Mrs. Mellett with if she chose to speak out as we saw in an Arizona Republic article from 1890. Some women would fear speaking out because their careers (especially in the military) would be over. Other women refused to speak out because it is a cultural thing and is an issue that is not discussed and talked about in the public eye, for example in Chinese culture women that were assaulted would remain silent because it was something that wasn't 'perfect.' This fear of destruction is a fear that prevented many women from speaking out and telling their stories. It's as if running away and remaining silent is the best option, which is why I picked this song specifically to choreograph a dance to.
