Within the year of 1963, newspapers had to report on anything and everything going on around the area. Upon researching the Library of Congress's, Chronicling America historical newspaper resource, there are only 132 results for newspapers with the word "rape" on the page from 1963. Three pages are actually from the Arizona Tribune. These sexual assault stories are shared with three advertisements that take up almost a third of the page. Advertisements usually gravitate towards women readers who could be interested in the latest fashion trend. It can be difficult trying to read the news with giant advertisements in the way. I put the stories of the assaults on the dresses in order for them to be seen, when advertisements are big and visible it can grab the readers attention.
Below the ads are the actual newspapers found from chroniclingamerica.loc.gov
