Her pen name is Amber Rose.
Went from working part time to publishing fifteen books in a two year period.
Very successful writer of romance books. Her series include Soldiers and Doms which gets turned into a film project that leads to Kai's brother coming back into his life.
Avery is her assistant in later books.
Serena's best friends are also writers. Bridget Slaten who writes as Dakota Cheyenne and Chris Roberts who writes as Cherry Sparks.
One of the questions I get asked the most is this - How much of Serena comes from you? Almost all of it with the exception that I haven't had a movie made, and at the time I wasn't a NYT best selling author. When I wrote this sucker, I hadn't even hit USA Today, so Serena hitting a list at the end of the book was wishful thinking for me. Who knows, maybe I'll get that movie, too.
Serena is at the heart of a lot of the "meta" stuff in the series. What do I mean by meta folks like Chloe Vale may ask? When the term is used in pop culture, it means self-reference. Think a show within a show. Serena writing The Spy Who Left Me as the first book in her Soldiers and Doms series is an obvious reference to The Dom Who Loved Me. There's a lot of meta references in Serena's work.
Do I dance around in my underwear when I'm trying to figure out the end of book? There's a reason they call it pantsing....
I definitely dance around with headphones on while I try to think my way through. I vividly remember my husband's stare as I was on our balcony at the time with Shinedown in my ears figuring out how Steal the Light ended.
The toy store Serena signs at in the end of the book is based on a real place in Fort Worth.
The friendship between Serena, Chris, and Bridget is very much like my friendship with Shayla Black and Kris Cook. Bridget gets her own book later called Cherished, but Chris is in a long-term relationship with his Dom. I couldn't rewrite that because I adore Kris Cook's hubby so much.
Fun fact for people who read Thieves, Neil and Chris share a last name because they're both based on Kris, though there is no connection between them. (Or is there????)
Sending Serena to Bliss in Broke Down in Bliss was a way to connect those worlds. And I thought it would be fun to watch her interact with fans there. She meets Nell, who at the time is not out as an author.
