Ian gets his name from two of my favorite fictional worlds. Ian is from Ian Flemming, the creator of Bond. Taggart is from Galaxy Quest. The captain of the NSEA Protector was named Peter Quincy Taggart, and if there's one thing my Tag never does - it's give up or surrender. (Well, maybe to Charlie.)
One question I often get asked is who I base Ian off of. I would love to say Ian is the product of my fertile imagination, but I can't. I married him and often take Ian's lines straight from my husband's mouth.
In the original version of The Dom Who Loved Me, Ian had a sub named Holly. My intentions were to break them up in book three because it had gotten too dangerous. Book Five was going to open with Ian realizing breaking up with her had just made her a target. He was going to get word Mr. Black was getting ready to kidnap her. He was going to storm her house only to realize she had a baby - his baby. And yes, if this sounds familiar, I repurposed it as the opening of Their Virgin's Secret. I was persuaded that Ian shouldn't have a lover, and I'm happy I took that advice. (Thank you, Shayla.) Most of Holly's lines were given to Eve, and the rest is history. I'm glad I did it because Charlie would have kicked my ass.
Why is Ian's book titled Love and Let Die? Because GnR did a great cover of the original theme song "Live and Let Die," and it felt very fitting.
Ian appears in every Masters and Mercenaries book with the exception of one - Dungeon Games. Ian also appears in Texas Sirens, Nights in Bliss, Lawless, and a version of Ian appears in Thieves. He's a vampire there and every bit as sarcastic as the human version.
There are several BDSM scenes throughout the series that come specifically from my own research and experience. One of them is the fire play scene.
