Butter Nut Cookies Grandmother Johnson's Recipe

Ingredients

1 cup butter or margarine

1 cup light brown sugar

1 cup sugar

2 eggs

1 teaspoon baking soda

3 ½ cups self-rising flour

1 teaspoon vanilla flavoring

1 cup nuts chopped

Instructions

Note**This cookie dough has to be chilled or it can be frozen before baking.**

Mix all ingredients thoroughly with wooden spoon

Divide cookie dough into 3 or 4 equal size rolls. Wrap and freeze.

When ready for cookies take out a roll thaw just until they can be sliced. Slice thin about 1/8 “ thick

Bake 350 degrees 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned.

Cool slightly, remove from pan and serve.

Note**These are best if eaten freshly baked, they do not carry over well. The good thing is that with them in the freezer you can pull a roll out and have fresh baked cookies in no time at all!**
