Luke 18:1-8
Will Jesus Find Faith on Earth in His Second Coming
1 Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up. 2 He said: “In a certain town there was a judge who neither feared God nor cared what people thought. 3 And there was a widow in that town who kept coming to him with the plea, ‘Grant me justice against my adversary.’
4 “For some time he refused. But finally he said to himself, ‘Even though I don’t fear God or care what people think, 5 yet because this widow keeps bothering me, I will see that she gets justice, so that she won’t eventually come and attack me!’”
6 And the Lord said, “Listen to what the unjust judge says. 7 And will not God bring about justice for his chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night? Will he keep putting them off? 8 I tell you, he will see that they get justice, and quickly. However, when the Son of Man comes, will he find faith on the earth?”
Hebrews 6:13-20
Hope is the Anchor for the Soul
13 When God made his promise to Abraham, since there was no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, 14 saying, “I will surely bless you and give you many descendants.” 15 And so after waiting patiently, Abraham received what was promised.
16 Men swear by someone greater than themselves, and the oath confirms what is said and puts an end to all argument. 17 Because God wanted to make the unchanging nature of his purpose very clear to the heirs of what was promised, he confirmed it with an oath. 18 God did this so that, by two unchangeable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled to take hold of the hope offered to us may be greatly encouraged. 19 We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain, 20 where Jesus, who went before us, has entered on our behalf. He has become a high priest forever, in the order of Melchizedek.
We need to have faith...This is something I truly believe...And I believe that hope is tied to our faith...If your life is much about faith, it must concern you that the Christian numbers are decreasing in America...I believe our country needs faith...
In the above Parable, Jesus speaks on different things...He touches on our persistence in prayer and us not giving up on our prayers...He talks about our search for justice...And He wants us to keep being persistent on seeking justice...He tells us that God will bring us justice in the end...And Jesus says will not God bring about justice for His chosen ones, who cry out to him day and night?... Will He keep putting them off?...Jesus tells us that His followers will find justice, and quickly...
Then there is a point Jesus makes to which, for me, does not quite fit this Parable...Jesus says He will return to earth again...This will be His Second Advent...Then He adds, but when the Son of Man does come, will He find faith on the earth?...
This gives me a feeling of sadness and I think of our country's declining numbers...To me Jesus is asking us will we be persistent in our faith and will He still have a large group of followers...Is our faith leaving us?...And what is leaving us for?...
Our souls certainly do need an anchor of hope...
