Psalm 11:1-7
1 In the Lord I take refuge.
How then can you say to me:
“Flee like a bird to your mountain.
2 For look, the wicked bend their bows;
they set their arrows against the strings
to shoot from the shadows
at the upright in heart.
3 When the foundations are being destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”
4 The Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord is on his heavenly throne.
He observes everyone on earth;
his eyes examine them.
5 The Lord examines the righteous,
but the wicked, those who love violence,
he hates with a passion.
6 On the wicked he will rain
fiery coals and burning sulfur;
a scorching wind will be their lot.
7 For the Lord is righteous,
he loves justice;
the upright will see his face.
Hebrews 11:6
God Rewards Those Who Seek Him
6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
King David wrote that he could take refuge in the LORD...The LORD is our Holy Temple and He is on His heavenly throne...The LORD is righteous, He LOVES justice, and the upright will see His face...
Throughout many of David's Psalms, we can see he loves to worship the LORD...Thomas Howard says "In fact, it is impossible to worship nothing: we humans are worshiping creatures, and if we do not worship the God who made us, we shall inevitably worship someone or something."...And we do want to worship Him...We want to have faith in Him...We want to seek the LORD and worship Him...We want to seek Him...It is in our nature...That is the way God created us...We have a restless heart, that does want to rest in Thee, according to St. Augustine...We want Him to be near, and we do want to take refuge in Him...It seems to me that only God can give life meaning and purpose, and He has created us that way...In His Image we are made, and because of this we are worshiping creatures looking for a Supreme One...It is our faith that we can come to Him and believe in Him, and when we do He rewards those who are constantly and earnestly seeking Him...
