Genesis 1:26-27
God Created Man
26 Then God said, “Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”
27 So God created mankind in his own image,
in the image of God he created them;
male and female he created them.
Hebrews 13:8
Jesus the Same
8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
From being created in the Image of God, we learn things...One of the things we learn is morality and how we should treat our neighbors...
And morality is an intangible virtue...A virtue we cannot see, but we know that it exists...Which, therefore, morality is unlike nature, and the creation of nature by God -which can be seen and witnessed each and everyday by our eyes...Morality on the other hand cannot be seen, but it exists...
And morality is a universal thing, and it is an eternal thing...If one man believes that he can do something immoral such as harm a child for no reason, being a reasonable man, he would see for himself that it is wrong to harm a young child...And that it is wrong anywhere in the universe to harm a child for no reason...So morality comes from another Source, a Third Party, and not from man...
.
So what is the basis, the foundation for this morality?...Why do we feel like we and others should be moral?...
Morality is evidence of God...If morality did not come from a Higher Source, where did it come from?...The non-believer can be moral and believe in morality, but that does not, in any way, rule out that there is not a God, or that morality did not come from God...The believer believes morality does come from God, and that is not only his belief, but also is one of his arguments that God does exist...The non-believer must believe that morality came from the Big Bang, and billions of years later man instead of taking a random non-moral turn, man has evolved in believing that morality is somehow good and all of mankind has taken this random turn down the correct ethical and moral path...And this shows us that morality is not just one culture or a one man thing who believes in morality and goodness...So how could all of mankind know that morality and kindness is the good and right thing to do?...And how can the non-believer not believe that morality, if it is only a random act of evolution, be a good and right thing?...Is the non-believer rejecting God for a random chance that just took place a million years ago, and that was the path that mankind just happened to take?...Is that logical and reasonable?...To believe that goodness, kindness, and love are only a random chance and not because that we are made in God's Image, means that the non-believer must believe that evil and wickedness, and mass murder would be okay, if we did not somehow take the random lighted path of morality...But by believing this, then one must believe that there is nothing behind this belief, or their argument, or morality itself...Morality then just happens to be here and human rights really mean nothing but a random walk and a random chance...
So why is morality not just a one time thing?...Why doesn't morality just exist in one place?...Why does and did morality exist yesterday, today, and forever?...And why is it also universal?...
It needs to be said that because we as followers of Jesus can't live up to His Great Moral Standards, it does hurt those watching those who follow Him...But that does not remove the fact that God and Jesus are the foundation of love and morality...
If one believes these things and that morality does exist, and does have a Source, then they must admit there is a God...Because one knows that morality is good, and that it is not confined to one man or one nation -it is universal, and that morality is an intangible that cannot be seen, yet it takes reason and logic to admit that there is morality -even though it cannot be seen, and that morality does not change with time...
